Isn't Doomtrain a completely different entity in Final Fantasy? I thought this boss was Phantom Train from VI.

I am absolutely on team "The fight must have a point in it where we're allowed to Suplex the Phantom/Doom Train."
The devs have to be incorporating this into the fight somehow, right? I mean, it's the FFVI/FFV/FFXI fan service expansion. The whole "Suplexing the Phantom Train" is legendary among the playerbase. Whether you love it or think it's stupid and pointless, you know about it. It's that kind of thing, and it seems to me like creating a Train fight and not suplexing it, would really be letting some/half/most/all(Pick your answer) of the playerbase down.

You're good at the game? You're an elitist.
You're using a parser to better yourself? Elitist.
You're making suggestions on how someone can improve themselves? E l i t i s t.
You wipe a farm party constantly but you're having fun playing your way. Nah you're fine dude.
This community astounds me at times.

I am in complete agreement. One way or another, that Phantom Train needs to get suplexed. An ATE would work fine since SE figured out a way to put QTEs into the game without people hating them.
I mean, didn't Square practically (or inadvertently) invent QTEs with the Opera scene in VI, if you think about it? It's not a stretch that they'd manage this in XIV... just an annoyance that it didn't work as well in XIII-2. That said, though, an Active Time Maneuver would be all too perfect of an opportunity to appease the fans on this conceptual meme. xD
I hope when you almost kill Phantom Train it wipes your party then Sabin comes in out of nowhere and suplexes it. Also Sabin vs Godbert must happen someday.

Maybe, but in my experience, people tend to hate QTEs in games. It surprised me when they added one to Cruise Chaser and it was well received. The ones they added since then also seem to be liked. I know I like them.I mean, didn't Square practically (or inadvertently) invent QTEs with the Opera scene in VI, if you think about it? Just wondering who would do it? A monk is the obvious choice but one won't always be in the party.

Doomtrain (the summon from FFVIII) is based off of Phantom Train. They're essentially the same entity just with different names and in different settings. Much in the same way Shiva and Ifrit are the same being but change designs and alternate between being actual characters or strictly summons.
