Can males get some diversity?

I don't think anything needs to be changed, rather, they just need to add to it. The next race, just give them a subrace that's akin to how midlander/highlanders are. That'd be enough. I think it'd make SE immediately realize that these types of characters are extremely popular (as you pointed out Alphy, who for some reason completely slipped my mind, but indeed it is proven true within the very same game) and in the future if they ever decide to add more subraces to the existing races, they could add more options under that belt at the same time.

Nothing needs to be changed, just make the next batch different is all, or at least make part of it different. There's no reason not too. Having more options is not a bad thing.

SE has shown concept art of Viera males already, and they are exactly NOT anything different from what we already have in spades. They are enormous beefcakes just like all the other males. It might be more realistic to expect them to add it as a subrace option for an existing race. And the chances of them doing that are basically nil. So at this point it seems pretty hopeless.

none of that 2 where mentioned to be the definitive one(after all they choosed au ra rather than viera), if i have to bet of what one of the 2 they could have choosed, it could be the child like vieras, because in japan people loves cute stuff, and the child like vieras are prety cute

tbh I feel like outside Lalas and Elezen, the girls are all clones of each other just stretched out. Au Ra, Miqo and Midlanders are all the exact same build. Highlanders and FemRoes are the slightly taller with added muscle sliders. Their faces/tails/emotes might make them "unique", but theres little variety in body shape outside of Elezen being rectangles and Lalas being little blobs.

Hell, if you want to play an hourglass bodied character, you have to play a male au ra.

This makes me wonder if the op has seen games like WoW, where as a male character you are locked into being crazily over-buff.

FFXIV actually has a wide variety of builds for a game, and the only one I would consider muscular like a warrior or over-buff is roe. The rest are actually more on the lean or thin side imo. And you can make them look thin or more muscular with different clothes.
(And this is coming from someone who likes slender and thin males and biggest pet peeve is overly buff guys)

The fact that male Au Ra have hour glass figures is a lot of diversity especially for male body types in games. As another poster mentioned SWTOR might be the only game with more variety.
