DRK Job quest progression and Storm Blood

Hello, my fellow DRKs ^^

Question about progressing the DRK questline. I would like to continue the questline (currently on the 65 quest), but dont want to start the stormblood msq (waiting to do with a friend).

Is it possible to access the areas within stormblood to do the DRK quest without progressing the SB MSQ?

As far as I can tell only the first new lv60 DRK quest requires starting the Stormblood msq. So you should be good to finish DRK quests without having to finish the msq.

(the upcoming quests are still in HW areas)

If i recall the furthest I got in SB areas was the fringes...MAYBE the peaks..but i cant remember clearly...so odds are if your able to access the fringes..you should be ok.
You may have to get past the castrum that serves as the gateway to gry abania...but thats the only thing i can think of that would bar your way.

All I can say is give it a shot and see what happens...while bypassing MSQ.

Sadly, no. Pointless MSQ gating of areas is still a thing they've yet to abolish and probably never will.
That said, all your skills and traits; save for you last one, come from the leveling process. So you aren't missing out on anything that will prevent you from playing your job, just a really good questline that gives you gear and your final action at the end; which you really don't need until you're at the end of the MSQ anyway.

For DRK you can level no problem, however for new areas you will need MQ.

Thanks, this is what i was looking for. The msq gating is still a thing in terms of access to areas in SB.

On the upshot you don't have to get particularly far in SB. The relevant area of the fringes is accessible basically out of the gate, while the peaks (Where the final stage of the DRK 70 quests takes place) opens up not long after being introduced to the Ala Mhigans as memory serves

Then you will have to get as far as unlocking the peaks....guess you'll have to make a decision on that. @ OP
