Tanked, and healed, Doma and Castrum in 90% Augmented Shire. Smooth runs throughout.

But you literally said, "everything is fine if you play well."

That can easily translate to, "It's only a bad idea if you never land with a player who isn't fantastic at their job," and, "it doesn't matter if it puts extra pressure on my party because I didn't feel like updating my gear."

Tridus put it best, the runs went smoothly DESPITE you being undergeared because everyone else adjusted. Yeah, you did DPS etc, but you don't take your team into account and what they had to do to make up for your shortcomings.

Lack of dungeon drops is no excuse, either. Especially when easy quests just DUMP all the HQ gear you could need and all sorts of materia. You have little to no excuse to have unless you literally ran 0 side quests during all of Stormblood's MSQ.

Going into content badly undergeared, then ignoring the fact it affects other players is just rude.

The topic of tanking gear is of personal interest because you know I love healing but I also like tanking. Believe me, I'm taking notes here.

Was in vault with a scholar who never used aetherflow or the fairy. we asked him if he'd use it he said "No Never" and then when I tried explaining all his best heals came from using aetherflow, and fairy was basically free healing, he got insulted and left. but hey WE DON'T PAY HIS SUB!

I wouldn't let it get to you as it is likely you'll never see them again. I will LB in Kugan where you did. If things are going slow enough that I have time to type I will ask the tank to do a large pull for an LB. If not I use it as I see fit on the last mobs before Yojimbo. As you say there is plenty of time to rebuild on Yojimbo but it really isn't needed for him.

I also try to set up for an AoE LB in Ala Mhigo as well. Depending upon how the tank is pulling and how full the LB bar is it will be everything between the first and second boss or between the first gate after the second boss and gate before last boss. Again Aulus Mal Asina goes down easy without an LB and there is plenty of time to rebuild LB during Zenos. If the tank doesn't pull all on the run to Aulus I will tell them to do a big pull after him so I can LB.

I'm still trying to figure out the best spot for Skalla but think a large pull before the last boss would be a good place and should allow for the LB to rebuild for a melee LB on the last boss.

Well I hope he enjoys never being able to progress beyond the Vault because that healer check is /no/ joke. Unless he was a jumper in which case I almost would pay to see their expression when they hit Bardam's. It would be like all my namedays came at once.

Onto my own experience, I had a Ravana Hard run today where half the party literally got knocked off with the first Pillars of Heaven cast. It ended up being myself, the tank, a newbie dragoon, and a red mage essentially four manning the boss down before the enrage timer hit. The fight's pretty easy these days and so it wasn't all that difficult for the four of us to do our jobs properly, but man I wish I could have given each of them a comm regardless. Not a single mistake was made and it went by with the speed of a well oiled machine. I wish more duties could bounce back like that after going pear shaped.

Casually leveling my white mage in leveling roulette with a FC mate, dpsing.

We got Sastasha, "easy run" I think, almost got to the first boss then my mate says something like "Hello dear tank friend, pulling with provoke is not efficient, as it doesn't generate aggro !".

Oh god, things went really bad after that ! I supported my friend on his statement, which got us a nice "I play the way I want" "you are *offensive word starting with a c" and so on. Typical "you don't pay my sub" reaction.


A quick kick later, we managed to clear the dungeon nice and easy as expected.




A bit later, we decide to do expert roulette. I'm going dps this time, my friend goes healer.
Surprise ! Ala Mihgo.

We start, small pull (3 mobs), but the tank is not a newbie ... okay.
Mobs die very slowly, I check the other dps gear (red mage). Some leveling gear here and there. I expected at elast 290 gear since it's free after job quest.

"Did you do your job quests" I asked.
"No, and what?" "What will you do about that ?" " Are you parsing ? Ha I know I have more damage than you !" "Don't tell me what to do !" " your dps must be bad because you're an idiot" are the answers I got.


Tonight I lost faith in the game community again.

Yeah, that sounds pretty good. And if you have it available for the big 3-pack pull before the second boss (which seems to be less and less common) and the tank's actually doing it, that's a great spot too.

I do the 3 pack pull sometimes, but if nobody LBs, it's extremely stressful on the healer if I'm gonna survive, so I don't always do it anymore.
