Welcome to the game, OP! I'm pleased you're finding it enjoyable thus far. I haven't played super long myself, but in the last few months since I've started I've found the game to be pretty enjoyable. Yes, there can be frustrating moments at times, but overall it's been fun for me so far and it's worth it for the runs when you get a fun, positive group. I hope you continue to enjoy things for as long as you play!

FFXIV is what an mmo should be and I'm glad I found it, the community talks to each other, helps each other but that's only possible because the devs understand that creating rules and systems to make people want/need each other's help is really really really important in mmos.

Other mmo devs
A lot of mmo devs leave it up to us to be nice to each other and defend it by saying not being nice to each other makes pvp good but that's a lie, it just decreases the community and makes everyone not want to be involved in the community. But yes ffxiv is beautiful and the devs really care about us experience the great times together with each other's help.

Welcome and I hope you bring anyone you know to Eorzea also, ffxiv is the best mmo and I'm glad more people see it. Also great to see another tank that appreciates the role of protecting and leading the fights.

I'm glad you're enjoying the community. I hope you continue enjoying it as long as possible. I know the forums paint a darker scene but like you, I actually like the community also. Yes we have our problem children but we also have alot of good apples here too. Kind of makes me wish we had "Tales of the community" thread that was just as ongoing as the Tales of DF thread but unfortunately, its not good news that keep things rolling lol.

But really I do hope you keep having fun. The community has a lot of wonderful people and you know, there's some regulars on the forums who love to help others when asked for it. Don't be shy and seek them out.

Im glad there are so many of you here that i can share all the positive things together!
Some of you are right, we will get some horrible experience now and then but knowing there are also many of you guys around who will make everyone else's time including myself in the game having a great time

I left WoW for FFXIV mostly becuase of WOW's Call of Duty style community of immature kids and tryhards. welcome to a more mature (mostly) place!

definitely a huge change in gameplay and ingame lifestyle, agreed!

i know right it really does make me feel appreciated and welcomed at the start and end of dungeon. such small gestures make such huge differences. thank you for doing them im sure myself and everyone really appreciates them even when we dont say it

Thanks for your insight Lachlein. Its good to hear your opinion from a Tank's POV.
I'm new to the game (well, I played a while back up to level 28 but I'm trying to get back into it now) and when I first did a Dungeon (Sastasha?) it came as a bit of a shock to me because I wasn't used to playing as a team and members having 'roles'. Needless to say, I got nailed by the team for pulling agro but I literally didn't know any better
Trying to focus on learning my place in the team, because I'm hoping to keep this up as a social game, so it's good to hear from a Tank's POV.

not a problem Metdevil / Raine , and thank you for sharing yours too! its all part of the learning progress we cannot rush others except to help and guide them
