Need advise for efficent 2ppl pt leveling...

We are a returning player and a new player. So we are not on the same main quest page.
We both want to level dps but we kinda ran into the "its better to seperate and level on our own even tho we are the same level" paradox.
We just want xp, we want gilz and gear.

How can 2 dps, who aren't on the same MQ page level together efficently isntead of leveling beside each other without being in a party?

Through Palace of the Dead - optional content that you can access through South Shroud (Quarrymill).

Here's a link to a page with information on this "dungeon", how and where to unlock it and what level you need:

    https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...e/deepdungeon/

It doesn't have a fixed comp requirement (no need for 1tank/1heal/2dds), can just queue as whatever you want. Experience is good until 61, after this level exp rewards aren't as good as other options (namely dungeons and roulettes).

You can also do daily leveling roulette, as all it requires is lvl16 and having sastasha unlocked - but note that queue as 2 DPS will probably take a loing while.

You actually have several options in this game for sharing game time even if you are not the same level or at the same place in the main story.

    1. Daily roulette(s). This unlocks as soon as you unlock the first dungeon after you have completed Sastasha and The Tam-Tara Deepcroft. It gives a massive amount of XP and a good amount of gil and Grand Company resources, both of which scales to your level, and sends your party in a random dungeon that are unlocked by both party members. It also rewards dungeon gear from the dungeon. It gives you a chance to roll for gear offered in the dungeon's chests. As you gain levels and unlock other elements of the game, you unlock different roulettes.

    2. FATEs. Those events that are spread across every zones will require to scale down your level to participate if you are too high level. There are several FATEs from every possible level. They reward good XP, gil and Grand Company resources as well. There are no prerequisite to unlock FATEs. If your level is lower than the FATE level though, you will receive reduced XP (which can still be decent).

Daily roulette and FATEs may not suffice to acquire level-adequate gear. Between the main story quests and the gil acquired elsewhere, you should still get decent gear, or receive enough gil to purchase it from NPCs.

    3. Palace of the Dead, as posted above, is its own thing. You "level-up" independently in PotD and do not need any gear to perform adequately. Once you succeed a section (10 levels and then a boss), you receive a large amount of XP on your actual character. This allows a player to preview his class/job of choice up to level 60. For more challenge and a better controlled pace, you can actually enter PotD as a pre-made group of 1 to 4 players and get as far as you can. In this instance, you would be able to enter in a party of 2 and experiment on your own.

    4. Dungeon. By repeatedly doing level adequate dungeons, you will have gear and XP. Since you are two damage dealers, you can optimize your time by doing FATEs during the queue time. Note that you still need to unlock the dungeons to do them in the first place.

    5. PVP. I have not dabbled into it yet, but I have heard it rewards a decent amount of XP once you unlock it.

You can easily reach the maximum level with a combination of the above. My personal recommendation would be to assist your friend into progressing in the main story quests. If you complement the main story quests with the above, you should have no problem ignoring the side quests and fairly quickly catch up. Looking at your two characters, I am assuming you have done the main story up to level 50 on your paladin and that you are either 31 or 17 with your friend. If you are planning to play extensively together, helping your friend catch up to you would be a good time investment.

Partially true. For the ARR(50 and below) doesn't offer this bonus. Only the 51-59 and 61-69 dungeons do this. So only Leveling roulette will guarantee gear from those specific ranges. All other dungeon roulettes gives the opportunity for gear, but if you lose out on the rolls, you get nothing but the EXP from the run.

Roulettes always require at least two duties to select from.

You can't participate in MSQ instanced battles in a party. I was partied with a new player the other day while they were doing quests, and when they tried to go into a battle, I got a message saying they had to be alone for it.

It's really not a big deal. Instanced battles take maybe 2% of MSQ time - you disband the party for a battle and form it back right after.
Though doing MSQ quests together (if you are on the same quest) saves the time as you have to kill only one set of mobs instead of two.
I'm leveling an alt with a friend now and we are already on a lvl 69 MSQ - I find it faster and easier than when I was doing MSQ alone.

That would be fun, going through the MSQ properly *with* another player as opposed to accompanying someone who's doing quests you've already finished - because that mostly involves following them around watching them talk to NPCs who may or may not actually be there for you... Would be nice if you could somehow see the quest going on again while you're partied with someone.

As a bit "wild" suggestion, you can make an alt to run through MSQ with your friend. You obviously don't have to play this alt once your friend hit level 70 but I think it's more interesting to run through the story together rather than to wait.
