Not sure if this is common practice, but it made me LOL.

I had just completed HW and was doing the optional dungeon Pharos Sirius HM. Im on DRK and promptly tell everyone its my first time. I don't mind speed running stuff as most of the dungeons are really easy. However, on my first run through a place I do like to at least have to to get my bearings. The MNK immediately runs off before protect is cast (female miqo with that really annoying combat voice) and starts pulling the whole first room. I catch up, grab aggro, go to boss and move on. I ask her if shed like me to drop grit so she can tank (wasn't joking) and she "gently patted" me. She does the same thing again, but this time she was doing that move where the MNK dashes forward. I couldn't keep up and she died. Grabbed ago on everything, we kill. I asked her why she won't just let me pull and she said "GL stax b0i" and left.

The fact is the parent put the kid in level 70 group content with literally no regard or empathy for the other three people in the group.

Not just the other players - seems like a lack of thinking about what it’s going to be like for the kid either. Even if they think it’s fine to let them play and that the other players should let it go ahead, they should realise that there’s a fair chance someone will react negatively towards them, and that’s not fair for an excited kid who just wants to play.

It would be much better to make a request in party finder, to get people who are actually happy to play. I’d gladly go for that party if I saw it! But just sending them into a dungeon like that is throwing them in the deep end.

Next time that happens....after you ask them if you they want you to take grit off so they can grit.
Let them die.....seriously...sooner or later they will learn to stop pulling aggro.



Healer/DPS should NEVER pull aggro..unless its a trusted/private party group where everyone knows whats going on.

I actually had fun stealing all the aggro back on DRK (serious AoE capabilities, and I'm beginning to like it a lot) but i never remembered MNK needing to keep greased lightning in story dungeon trash pulls

I had Ala Mhigo as part of a duty roulette a while ago and was tanking and had a dps who insisted on running ahead and pulling for me, even though I was doing big pulls anyway. I don’t get it, is it a ‘willy waving’ thing? Or something else?

Yeahh, this is how I feel as well. If it really was a 7 year old, he got set up to have a bad time I'm glad that no one ripped into the tank or was cussing left and right.

My 6 year old loves to poke around in game, but at this point we generally just cruise around on different mounts, play with the minions, or go to lower area to go poke some mobs. I'm really hoping we had just run into a troll. ><

I recently had a very sweet run of Qarn NM (the point everyone stops reading because we're all here for horror stories).
I got it for my leveling roulette as samurai - both the tank and the healer have little green leafes and the tank starts of by saying they cant recall wether they had done the dungeon before or not (they hadnt - or at least someone hadnt because we got a bonus).
And then... the miracle happens: I start explaining things, like strat for the first boss, some tips for the tank... and they dont only listen and follow that advice, they're also thanking me for that, are generally really nice, asking further questions, trying to improve... it was beautiful! The tank also did very well in general, catching up on things quickly.
We wiped once to the first boss because the tank didnt noticed the doom and died and everything snowballed from there - on the second try we had him standing constantly on the glowing platform though, just to be safe! (or actually because they missunderstood my explantion a little)
The healer missplaced two of the stones for the doors, but no problem either - just quickly killing the extra mobs, followed by a short apology from the healer ("I guess that wasnt the right one then...?")
No one raged, no one bitched - I think the level 70 BLM got a little bit impatient at the end though, but was still nice about it.

But the most beautiful thing was how "excited" the tank was about everything - Qarn has all those neat puzzles after all and I tried to tell them a bit about them and seeing someone go "Wow, thats so cool!" and actually enjoying the bossfights as something new and exciting was really refreshing for someone who loaded into the dungeon thinking "Oh damn this one...!"
It was a nice reminder on how awesome and exciting this game can be (and still is!) when you do and see stuff for the first time - I envied the tank a little...

Had Dun Scaith as Alliance Raid today. One Healer said he were new to this, so I decided to help a bit and start typing it's good to have Ensuna for the first boss battle equipped, because of Doom and this Raid isn't too hard. After typing I got the warning, that the barrier will close in 15 seconds. As a monk, I hit sprint and hit Shoulder Tackle. Sadly my angle to the boss were a bit off, so I rushed into the abyss
