I can appreciate that, but that wasn't what I asked.
Would you be willing to just have nothing? Would you rather have recycled content with slight changes to loot, or nothing at all? The reason I ask is because this may have been the choice.
WHERE IS THIS KETTLE EVERYONE KEEPS INTRODUCING ME TO?
I'll eat my hat if it ever comes down to them missing a seasonal event. Side the game shutting down I don't see that realistically ever happening.

OK. So you understand they'd much rather put their event up with minor adjustments than have a blank space. And sure we'd love unique versions of events every year, but I'd put money on them quickpatching a repeating event every year VS innovation when they have other larger content drops coming up.
I'm still curious what the OP or you would choose if that was the only choice though, nothing? or recycle?

I'm pretty sure the assets for Kugane and Ishgard are downloaded to your system via the patch regardless of whether you have the expansions or not.You still couldn't do this because what if a certain player only has the base game and neither HW or SB, in terms of the data going in to an instanced version of Ishgard or Kugane would be impossible without the expac. The whole point of having the events in ARR areas is to ensure that every player has access to it regardless of what expacs they own.
My PS4 version of the game has neither of the expansions and has an install size of 67.25GB. A friend of mine has both expansions, and the install size of her game is 68.97.
I highly doubt all the assets from both expansions are less than 2GB in size, so even without the expansions, a player with the base game would still have the data on their system to allow them to enter an instanced city from either expansion if they chose to have a seasonal event specific to either region.
Even if that wasn't the case, they could have the necessary data downloaded via a patch sometime before said event.
I dont want them to retire it but maybe change it up a bit. I mean the christmas event was often something daily and yet this year it was just doing a fate once and be done with it (if you dont need the other stuff). So even that one was fast and kinda boring. I really get the feeling that they put less and less work into this and the only ones that are at least a bit bigger are those that have others from outside the game working on it. Honestly I had better events in F2P games..
IMO I would love if we got less events but those that stay should be bigger. Not a grind like the yokai one but more than just one fate and its finished..let us have some cool mini games (like the egg stuff) and give us the main price fast but also some nice stuff that we can grind for if we want it.
(And we did not even get much to buy from the NPC too. One statue and something to eat. It really felt like they barely put any work in that..maybe instead of creating those cutscenes they could use the time to create some nice mini games to play with..but they still like to put their main focus on cutscenes instead of fun...I mean this event needs more time for watching the scenes than playing it..)

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
THAT,lets be honest,Any F2P do better event;quality wise, every ff event are done in less that 1 hour, the new year event ? took me roughly 15min.
Some will say "thats because they are working on the next content" ;but we all know, that the next content, him too, will be done in a matter of hour.
For me,they are doing event because they feel like they have to,but dont really put their mind into it,"take the quest from last year, but this time, the design team will do dog helmet, and 1 dog statue...that move his tail" The end,the meeting for that event lasted 2minutes lmao
Remember when Hauchefont showed up at the end to help with the horse promotion? Good times, good times...
Quality is generally better than quantity. I prefer less of something but what we do get winds up being far more enjoyable and memorable compare to something I do and forget about because it fails to engage.
I don't see the problem. I know plenty of guys who would happily put their lives on the line for a chance at pounding some mochi.
Keep pounding that mochi, guys, and don't forget to "smash" that like button, link, share, and subscribe!
