These 2 things, are not content. When leveling and achievement hunting become viewed as a top thing the game has to offer in the form of content, you know that content is in a sad state.

If this happened always only a couple weeks before a patch, that would be one thing.
But this tends to happen to many a couple months before a patch. Which is why the servers are so busy for a month after patch and then die down.

That system is fairly unique to FFXIV. Few other games give you the chance to level other jobs on the same character. Fewer still add story content to even crafter/ gatherer classes, staples of mmorpg's usually made as after thought to combat classes. The Final Fantasy series on a whole is much more about story and setting that's why every class/ job has it's own story and relic weapon quest. Then there is the dungeons, F.A.T.E.s, beastmen tribe quest, primal mounts, GC Squadrons, ect... Point is there is plenty to do for those that look for it. If endgame is all you play for there are a few other games out there for that, however this is an FF game. The transition from 1.0 to 2.0 proves how different this game is, it shows in the attention to what the fans of the series have enjoyed for three decades.
