I think the Raidion is 8500? I honestly can't remember. It's an "SLI" motherboard (I also have the Nvidia version of the motherboard) so I can pair it with another card if I want more power (I think the AMD cards work differently in a dual mode than the lovely SLI Nvidia do).I use to play WoW with everything cranked up to the max with my Diablo UI, and it never struggled when I was doing 25 man raids at the time.

It's an really old chipset, the LGA775 socket type with what was one of the highest end quad cores which I have overclocked upto 3.6ghz stablally, but run at 3.2ghz so the fans are able to work in silent mode.

I really want to have a new i7 8 core CPU with SLI and 16GB DDR3 ram for 2018.

http://openhardwaremonitor.org/ try grabbing the program from here, preferably the .rar package. it's a useful tool for monitoring your usage per core and your temps(also per core) and other things. it'll also give you the specifics on what parts you have.

also, we're on DDR4 RAM atm and admittedly it's the most unjustifiably overpriced thing going on right now. if you upgrade, it might be worth considering going for used parts from a generation that uses DDR3 so you don't have to fork over the blatant price gouging companies are doing right now. getting a 3000 or 4000 series Intel CPU with an appropriate motherboard can save you a good deal. or you can bite the bullet and buy into a DDR4 platform.

I have the Logitech G15 Keyboard with the LCD window, it allows me to see each core temp and load (when I am using Windows rather than MacOS). I know the temps were getting pretty "warm" 77c-88c during high load. While I would love to build a totally baller rig, it's just e-penis waving to go for the hardcore stuff when you're only doing an MMORPG. If I was still young and angry I would be hitting up the FPS like crazy with some stupid high end stuff.

Unlike OSX, Windows plays very nicely with other operating systems. You cannot appletalk Windows or Linux computers. But you CAN add Linux computers to a Windows Homegroup and Active Directory. One of my classmates did this as part of his final project for our IT degree program. From a networking point of view, the Linux machine was being treated like a Windows one.

For the layman user, Windows is rather cheap to buy and updates and service go on for the life of the development and even some time long after the version is obsolete (like XP). For Apple you have to pay for major updates (akin to service packs which are free for Windows). Linux is free, but has no official support. You get what you pay for.

Sorry to say, but I'm pretty sure you're wrong to say Windows is anti-consumer. Its been pretty pro-consumer for a while. Hell, anyone remember the browser wars in the 90s? Windows is the reason we don't have to pay $50 per computer for an internet browser.

I hear this PS4 is only for people who can't buy gaming PCs comment come up a lot in this type of discussion. I used to play on PC, switched to PS4 so I can sit on the couch and get away from the PC after being on it all day at work. Plus I can get up and walk around with controller in hand while playing on a TV screen big enough for me to read text from across the room. I just wish PS4s had more USB slots so I can keep the keyboard, controller cable, mouse, and external HD plugged in all the time. Anyway it's just a platform, a preference, and each option has pros and cons. But if you are big on metagaming, PS4s are probably not for you.

See I'm just the opposite. Personally I can't justify the game/media dedication of the PS4 so went with a PC as I also use it for other stuff like finances and writing code. Frankly I don't care what someone plays on as long as they try their best when in group content. As far as the party leader that wanted PC only to paraphrase a common refrain on the forum, "If you want to set the rules your way make your own party". It's their loss that they are cutting out a whole group of potentially great players.

I wish he/she expanded on this and hopefully had some thought put into it, as I disagree with the quote. But as it is, it says nothing about parsing, FFlogs, or console player's abilities to perform in FFxiv (which is what a lot of posts here are suggesting). It's very much "PCmasterrace" but it's also very easy to ignore.

Consoles are anti-competitive which in itself is anti-consumer. You the consumer lose out on your option of choice when there are exclusive deals or exclusionary content (like Sony refusing to cross-play on recent titles for PS4 like MS did in the past on XBOX). PC has never had these problems. Someone mentioned MS Windows which is a monopoly but it is not anti-competitive in the same way, no one makes games for linux or dos really so the are not comparable. Consoles also live on forced upgrade cycle like Apple does which is anti-consumer. Whether or not you say this is a good or bad thing is another issue, but it is still causing someone to purchase an item to replace one that is working fine already.

With that being said their excluding people is stupid in that it is doing what they are opposed to so yeah.

That's wrong, MacOS is updated all the time to a newer version for free and when I had to install a new HD in my Macbook I was just able to automatically download a fresh copy of MacOS no problem, no messing with CD keys etc. Even on iOS devices every update is free so I don't understand where you're getting the idea that updates and new versions have to be paid for each and every time? Or am I reading your comment wrong?
