Carbuncle mounts have arrived!

I'm disappointed. Not because they're available on the Mog Station but because I was hoping that they would be available in exchange for achievement certificates. It was implemented as a system and yet there is nothing new associated with it - so for anyone who already acquired the veteran rewards there's literally nothing for them to spend achievement certificates on.

I would have loved if they used the achievement certificates as a way to buy cash shop stuff instead of making them the necessary currency for old veteran reward items. This way people who dont want to do achievements can buy them and the rest can play the game and get them through that.

They're still making mounts available in-game. I'll start worrying when that is no longer the case. It's a common business tactic in the present day for MMO's to have optional items for sale regardless of the presence of a subscription fee. Is it ideal? Not necessarily - but then many people, if given the opportunity, would rather have everything for free. That Square Enix has multiple ways to acquire more money should not be a surprise to anybody.

And strangely most of the wanted mounts are stuck behind cash shop and most of them even look better. Look at the details of the mog mount or the carbuncles and then back to something like the flying couch. I am not saying that we dont get mounts but a lot of them are re-colors of one (like the primal mounts) existing mount. I mean I was positively surprised that we got that bear mount for christmas but I wished that we would have gotten at least one version of the carbuncles ingame and the other in the cash shop. I mean at least in the past we got the bird ingame and later with better music in the cash shop. Or the magitek mounts that are mostly just re-colors in the cash shop so unlike you want all mounts or just like the color better you dont need to buy it, because you already own a version of it. With Sleipnir, the mogry one and the carbuncles you cant get it ingame at all.

Yoshida once said that putting the event stuff there was not for money making but for giving people the chance to own the items. But the prices are way too high, especially for the housing items. I mean they sell retainers, fantasia and the weddings through the cash shop. Those alone should earn the cash shop more than enough money to pay for it for years. Why not make those items way cheaper?

I have all event items because I never missed a single seasonal event since 2013. But I agree with this. I'd support it if you guys made a petition to ask for lower seasonal event cash price, or exchange them for achievement points, or even gil.

Does anyone else think the sizing for Au Ra and
Miquote is off. I have a Lala male, Au Ra female and Roe male characters and the mount looks awesome on both the lala and roe but my Au fem looks like she is riding the lala mount and that if she just straightened her legs she could just pick the mount up and walk him around. Like an adult riding a child’s bike. It bugs me as the other two look perfectly normal

Sizing doesn't really bother me on my Miqo. Though she's the shortest she can be. I kinda like the sizing of the mount for her--it's like a giant Carbuncle teddy bear she can snuggle with. :3

I can't help but /facepalm when I see the mounts going for $24 USD while the entire game + xpacs is on sale for $30...

Course, I can't say a whole lot when I have a hairdo that came along with an outfit for $15.

I think I bought 2 or 3 mounts on the WoW cash shop years ago, but only when they were on sale at 50-75% off during this time of year. Funny thing? I think I used each of them maybe once.

I've yet to buy a mount from the cash shop in this game...don't see the need for any of them. I mean, I have ~60 mounts in this game currently and tend to only use one at a time (ADS mount from shatter is current mount of choice).

To each their own, though. Other people spending money on these mounts (that have been in demand, as a concept at least, for a while) don't directly impact me at all. I suppose it could be argued that people buying these in droves could be an indirect impact, but that's one heck of a stretch.

Yikes, folks really are mad. You don't NEED anything in there to play this game the exact same way as anyone else, cash shop items or not. The mount price is too expensive for some and obviously, not too expensive for others. If I could pay $24 for that tiger mount, I'd certainly buy it without hesitation. To me, $24 has less value than my time grinding seals endlessly. I can understand being upset it's not free but does it really make sense to be mad people are paying actual money to support the game you care enough about to come complain about a mount you can't have?

Apart from thinking the bunkle mounts look hilarious on my male Au Ra, my one meh with the thing is that the horns of aura clip into the carbunkle on the clothing. It shouldn't be that hard to make that not happen, and there is just enough clipping in this game already. I love the look of a bunkle on my shoulder.. I'd just like to not stab it with a horn..

They look cool, but I'll be voting with my wallet by not buying it.

We already pay for the game and the expansions. The sub is supposed to pay for server costs and new non-expansion content. This should have been some in-game achievement or farmable reward. I wouldn't care if it was in the cash shop in addition to the game, so people who don't want to farm can buy it, but having it cash-only (at 24$ per color!) is a slap in the face. I can afford to buy both (or more if they did it), but it's a matter of principle. I'm already paying for this game. Adding an in-game way isn't giving it "for free", because the sub is not free.

Some people view it as an upgrade, like leather seats on a car, I view it as several hours of gameplay (farming) taken away from me.

But then again I'm pretty much against anything that's cash-only and not a service, so I'm biased.

So I'm not angry at people for support SE and buying it, and I'm not angry at SE for putting it on the cash shop, I'm annoyed at it being cash-ONLY.

Not everything sold in a store needs to be bought by a customer, even if they happen to desire those things. If we're honest with ourselves how many of us have purchased a mount from the Mog Station or worked hard in-game to acquire one only to use it a few times and then never touch it again?

Why does that matter? That can be said for most things in the game including gear. The point is FF14 is double dipping and its not just for development cost. If they are boasting 10M players do they really need an over priced cashshop filled with exclusives that are game relevent?

Show me! People keep saying its helping the game so what does our sub fees go to? Before you say thats not enough keep in mind they keep boasting about 10M players and if half of those people have more than 2 retainers we are talking serious cash. Also the game sales, expansions, collectors editions and items...the list goes on.
