Hmmm, maybe when the next NA promotional thing comes along with a new sweet badass looking outfit/mount, they'll add them on MS then? o.oIt's nice they are adding new items to mogstation, but where is the maid outfit at? There has been no way to get it for NA since the one time they had a promotion. Yet jp side got it again in their 7/11 one along with the new stuff. They said it would be available again and on mogstation, yet its been over a year since it was for NA side.
As for my reply to this thread:
When I get the chance, I'm getting the Emerald Carby because it's so SHIIINY!!
And I might also get the emote too because it may come to good use for future photoshoots XD

As I see it the profits from the cash shop more goes towards development of the game then subs do. The downside is it is own a cash shop. None of the items though are necessary for playing the game and is pure cosmetics. If you don't like the cash shop then as I see it don't use it. You can do everything in the game without it.
Mildly disappointed, yet not entirely surprised either. With that new system of achievement points being used to purchase old veteran rewards, I don't see why they couldn't put something like this in there as well as the Mog Station so you could get it both ways.
Oh well. Let those who find value in these buy them. I personally find them overpriced like most things on there.
Too much of a cost
Doesn't matter. Blizzard and Valve showed the gaming industry about 7 or so years ago that people still want to cash in their money on vanity objects despite them having paid for a game and running a subscription.
The Celestial Steed from World of Warcraft alone gave them a revenue of 3.5 million dollar on release, with a queue of 140.000 players waiting in the shops to get their turn to buy it.
And you can already guess how good it went also with Team Fortress 2 and their hats, emotes and exclusives, some of them still being worth thousands of dollars.
That was enough for the industry to turn their heads and fully apply those 'services' into their games as well, F2P or not.
I mean yeah but early on in the game there was actual demand from the community itself for a cash shop so it's not like it's a greedy plan thought up by them. I'm fine with it as long as the money goes towards more development, I mean if people are patient they do go on sale. My only complaint with premium items is that I wish things like mounts would have custom themes and kind of expect that for the price.Doesn't matter. For $24 you would think they would have different music than the standard music that almost all mounts use... but NOPE! Kinda sucks :/
First off SE is a company and it's goal is to make money. While the prices are a tad high (is the mount a 2 seater?) People are willing to pay so it's not that bad. People keep saying it should be a reward for content... but then complain there's no content to do....so we should have stuff gated behind nonexistent content? And as for effort required I have to leave my house and go to work for a couple hours to get paid so i can buy it vs. Sitting on my ass for 10mins to acquire the Xmas bear...
I completely get the argument that these items would never have been created if it wasn't for the purpose of selling them on the cash shop, but if I honestly had to choose, I'd take a couple extra dungeons per patch over a handful of mounts and $18 outfits that I'd have to pay extra for.
Which leads me to this question- wasn't the near-outrageous price tag on these outfits somehow linked with the fact that SE would need permission from the Chinese/Korean companies distributing and running FFXIV in those countries to market their items? Pretty sure there was a copyright argument there, because I gave SE the benefit of the doubt on that for all the Chinese and Korean exclusive dresses and outfits they've added over time, thinking that those were the only ones they'd charge that much for. But oops! It was apparently a new normal. Oh well... fooled twice, shame on me. So I'm waiting for a sale before I touch these or anything else added at nearly $20 a pop.
