a player is only free to do that if they don't have to swim in the rest of the pool like us commoners. Statics can make this stuff happen. players whose skill level is high enough can make everything work. players at the world first level probably have both of those.DRK was showcased as the world first because the player wanted to make a point and he enjoyed playing as DRK. The video only outlined the key flaws of DRK in 4.0 and other videos showed how the WAR and PLD combo is slighly easier in terms of progression.
But that showcase in no way shape or form proves that DRK doesnt need any adjustments.
I'm pretty sure XIV Meta been here LONG before OW release.
But OW more toxic while XIV uses it time to time.
How can someone link a video and miss the entire point of video in question?
I'm gonna repeat myself but this stems from the overall skill of the average player. The average player on FFXIV is terrible. Poorly optimized openers and rotations, often gets hit by telegraphed attacks and so on. If the skill of player is usually this low, having a meta comp increases the chance of success as it is based around enhancing one another. Maybe that 1 Dragoon that knows to hit battle litany is horrible but he's better than a Samurai that screws up his rotation non stop as he'll boost everyone else, especially the good players that will carry you through.
tl;dr, get good, you won't have any issues with whatever you play.
My server was pretty tame until people from Gligamesh and Balmug transferred to our server. Nothing against their servers, but we got their impatient bad actors. I used to be able to go place to place without seeing toxicity; now it is rampant on Siren that everyone transferred here. We got people who shout explicitives and insults daily in Limsa, people who troll others just trying to go about their day, etc. Kind of sucks.
People who use parsers (to troll and berate others) in this game, which has content both for casual and hardcore players, is just gross. I don’t care if they want their meta in their static or premade groups, but keep it out of the duty finder please. As long as people are using gear around their level and doing their rotation, I couldn’t care less. The only thing that bugs me is when you get that player who had ants in their pants and goes around jumping like a psychotic frog inbetween their rotation. So distracting... I’ve left groups for it. (No, I am not a mentor. And I took my penalty without complaint.)

We’re all advocating for the type of game we want to see. Mine just happens to clash with yours. I like a story driven game, where people can come together as a community, and defeat challenges based on a PVE format. I want to work together. [snip] You’re not gonna like what I say, but I’m gonna say it regardless because I want Square Enix to hear the other side.
Competitive PvE has always been a thing though. Guilds back in WoW racing server first and such even who were not able to necessarily compete for world first or like NA first or whatever.
The thing is, competition improves peoples play, like say, competing with your fellow red mages or samurais or whatever in damage done, who gets the kills first, who kills things faster etc. And this in turn improves the play of people involved in such an activity, even just being critical about your own runs, and "competing" with yourself can help.
I kinda agree, but only if the people in question know how to use the meta to its fullest effect and don't make horrible mistakes. The thing is, meta is optimized for overall raid dps, thus dropping pretty much all supportive/defensive utility unless it just comes with your class like uuhh.. bard, with troudour, or mch with dismantle and then melees have feint and thats pretty much all you get. Take red mage or summoner for example, they are better in prog cause of raises and such to mitigate some horrible disasters should they occur (and if we are talking about puglife, they more likely will than they won't) hence meta is not necessarily the best option. Although all this depends on what the purpose of the pf in question is, like a clear is different from speedkills or fflogs runs. Overall though, as long as you know the fight and know what you are doing, you will clear in pf, provided that the 7 others also can do it, meta doesn't really affect that.
I KNOW!
A lot of the more serious parsers do not care about what a person does in duty finder content--they do not expect some 99th percentile play in Kugane Castle. They only care about performance in their static, or in farm PF groups that advertise efficiency and proficiency.People who use parsers in this game, which has content both for casual and hardcore players, is just gross. I don’t care if they want their meta in their static or premade groups, but keep it out of the duty finder please. As long as people are using gear around their level and doing their rotation, I couldn’t care less.
Generalizing an entire group of individuals based on the bad apples is gross.
This I do agree with. Nothing grinds my gears more than BRDs that bounce around like they're stepping on hot coals all the time. Like...why? Just hold still, for the love of Hydaelyn. The only thing that bugs me is when you get that player who had ants in their pants and goes around jumping like a psychotic frog inbetween their rotation. So distracting... I’ve left groups for it. (No, I am not a mentor. And I took my penalty without complaint.)
Regarding the "meta", if you think the meta is needed to clear content, it's not. It's used in groups for optimization, but it's certainly not needed. Neither of the statics I've been in have used the meta. My first one started on Exdeath before it disbanded with PLD/WAR/AST/WHM/NIN/MNK/SMN/BRD, and my current one has V4S on farm with DRK(PLD for V4S)/WAR/SCH/WHM/NIN/MNK/SMN/BRD. We clear content fine, and while the running joke in my group is me bemoaning my lack of a DRG, we certainly don't need a DRG to clear content and do well.

I'm that antsy player that jumps all over the place outside of tanking.
In some games like WoW with a strong PvP presence mainly pvp players are are easy to detect because they fidget around a bit constantly :3. In FFXIV though, thats just odd. But as long as it doesn't affect their gameplay its whatever.
This thing is probably one of the smartest things I've read on these forums to date.A lot of the more serious parsers do not care about what a person does in duty finder content--they do not expect some 99th percentile play in Kugane Castle. They only care about performance in their static, or in farm PF groups that advertise efficiency and proficiency.
