I will admit though, male characters are in desperate need of more facial hair options and it's really too bad that they haven't added any for you. Hien's armor is a great opportunity for them to implement it but SE probably won't.

In regards to the Halloween set, yes, females did have a "dress". Which was essentially a skirt attached to the re-skinned top. However, it's a hard comparison to say that the males should have gotten pants with theirs; since neither gender actually got a pants slot item.

The only way they could have changed it without adding pants of some kind to both sets (which would have turned into stockings on women that wouldn't be visible because of the boots) would have been to make the male version some sort of robe. That said, if they did that, it would have been a long robe and likely cover up those awesome thigh high boots. Then we would have had complaints about the 100000+ robe for men (I will agree, there are too many robes) and how you can see the full boots on the female model and not on the male model.

Honestly though, at the end of the day I wouldn't mind seeing male characters getting some more masculine outfits that are just for them in general.

It's still a very questionable decision to release a uniquely-colored item like this without matching pants in the same color, especially since the top is, again, just a recolor of an already-existing item that has a matching pants model in-game. If they were really going to go with the cheap copy-paste, they could have either split the sets and given male characters one extra item (Which is not, actually, unprecedented), or given everyone the leg-slot item, which wouldn't be hard, since it already exists in-game.

Again, I'd have been happy to provide my own pants if the actual coat had been given a little more unique flair, but it's not like there's NO WAY to resolve the problem without turning the top into a dress on guys. Though it IS meant to be a costume, so this would actually be the one instance in the game where it would make perfect sense for a male character to be given a dress to wear, and the previous ASW outfit was a dress, so even if that was, for some bizarre reason the only viable solution, there's no excuse but laziness for not going for it.

If you'd like something similar to Hien's clothing, I'd recommend getting the woad set (the one from Sohm Al). Woad Skyhunter looks especially similar to that, hence why I thought at first glance that Hien's clothing was just another recoloured version of existing ones. Like Theodric, I'd love to get more facial hair options and I agree with you two that Hien's set provides a great opportunity for this.

In regards to the aforementioned halloween set, I haven't played the game by then so I couldn't comment much about its problems that you guys were talking about. However, I don't think that was the point Theo, Lukha, and others were trying to make. Whether they were just recoloured version of existing ones, missing legs slot, or whatnot are ultimately irrelevant; what matters is that the female version looks "complete", whereas as you can see... the male version is missing a fundamental piece in the supposedly "whole" set. If anything, it shows the half-arsed effort the designers put into making male outfits and that's why we guys are going bananas over this. As the others have mentioned, this has happened repeatedly and seem to be getting worse. A vocal and very passionate man who support this cause have decided to give up trying, so you know things have gone pineapples in the current state.

Reading the last few posts, it saddens me that many females seem to misinterpret the intention of this thread. "but you have this and that which are male-exclusive and I want it" and something along these lines would suggest that we want more exclusive gears because currently the numbers are not equal. Can't say for the others, but my understanding is that we want designers to make more outfits with male characters in mind, rather than designing them all only for females (like Edda set), guys getting the short-ends (like the halloween set), and my favourite "I'm uncomfortable doing my job because my feelings" (like bunny set). Skimpy, masculine, numbers of gender exclusivity outfits are all secondary.

If you're counting me in that, I absolutely think there should be more variety in clothing for both genders, and have it all equippable by anyone. I guess I don't directly see the lack of masculine clothing because I'm not looking for it, while what I *do* see is costumes where the male version looks conservative-feminine but females can only equip a more revealing version. It's a different outcome of the same problem with their restrictions on who can equip what, and also how they define male and female costumes. "It's not feminine, because we added an undershirt and pants!"

And yes, it's bizarre that they can refuse to implement highly-requested costumes because a particular person is uncomfortable designing them. Surely there are plenty of other people in the company that can take up the job?

So those that dont want to see the bunny set for males..are you fine with the female version of it? Because in the end the only thing that the set screams for both version is: really sexy. I mean why would the female version be fine and the male version not? They could simply give them the ears, nice short black pants and maybe the bow for the neck. The only "problems" are probably the leg and feet parts but something like that should have been solved until now. This set would imo not look worse then subligars and imo even much better than that pig costume..

In the end if you are fine with females running around in barely anything its kinda a bit hypocritical to dislike it on males.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

I'm just disappointed that it's almost 2018 and we're still waiting for the male bunny set, yet female characters have received two exclusive outfits in that timeframe? Maybe more?

I'd definitely appreciate more masculine glamours/AFs. I'm specifically talking about the WHM AF3 and BRD AF3 as examples, they were clearly built with a female character in mind.

This is the kind of gear I'd like to see on males personally:

Gear that accentuates the male body without being overly skimpy like the Light Steel/Coliseum set.

I think definitely for sure the problem with the SE gear design team is it's 100% built for the straight male eye, no matter which way you go about it. Yes there's things like the skirt and the subligars, but why do you think male character players on reddit keep posting "What is this gear I'm getting at Lv15?" and it's their highlander or midlander in a pink subligar, eyepatch and tabbard? I mean, that's why a lot of female gear as of recent is very skimpy on its own. I think the last set that was overly skimpy fairly equally was the Shisui sets.

In the end, all gear should be available to everyone, in my opinion. Yeah, sure there'll be joke Roegadyn and Highlanders and they'll be an eyesore, but eh, c'est la vie.

No, what I'm saying is that male fashion has never been as versatile as female fashion, and any game or media naturally follows the popular taste. In other words, many females love wearing trousers AND mini skirts, while the majority of males would never want to touch a mini skirt. And with that, this game still offers a huge variety of trousers designs, and even several skirts or shorts that males can wear. You simply can't blame SE for not making onepiece dresses for males o_o (though many robes can be perfectly worn as onepiece dresses, considering I wear them that way for my female characters, and the male versions look exactly the same).

I play three male characters, plus the male characters from my friends, who I'm always fangirling about. I personally love the male sets so much, I just can't find any reason to complain ;_; (and I'm certainly not complaining when females get skirts or dresses either, as I like them and I don't want to stop getting them just because most males wouldn't wear one).

    tl;dr: I personally don't see a huge case of unfairness in this game, minus the bunny outfit ;;;
I think males have quite a lot of freedom and things to choose from in Eorzea, so I can't accept the belief that devs don't care. FF games have always cared a lot about male characters, and FFXIV is not an exception in my opinion.

Quite a few posters have given specific examples as to where, exactly, the unfairness resides. Not just in this thread, either - but other threads relating to male glamour.

I disagree about the BRD set. It's my main glamour for my guy Hyur. I can't even say it's not masculine because it is, it's just elegant and stylish, something a lot of other outfits that are more 'male intended' lack. Ok, maybe the hat, that always escapes me because I don't use it. But the coat and pants and boots? Nah. AF1 I might've agreed with you, but the BRD AF3 set is one of the things I'd like to see more of in the game. Heck, this set I might go as far as to say is one of the few where the ladies are missing out on because they don't get the fancy pants.
