Odin was pvc with some metal. I've been told there was a poorly concealed metal support on Odin that wasn't visible in the promo pictures.

Shiva will have some snapping issues unless they make big changes in the mass produced product because transluscent/clear parts on figures always tend to be brittle compared to opaque because there are a lot more limitations on what can be used if you want the part to retain its color/transparency over time. You either choose a softer material that's flexible that will yellow and crack with age or a rigid material that ups the chances for breaking but isn't as susceptible to longterm chemical changes. I'm speaking as a sculptor who has worked with these mediums. Thems the stakes when you work with plastic.

^ This. From experience soft plastic with flexible shapes usually doesn't come with good durability against natural aging. And that is even before factoring potential breaking from rough handling. From the Odin statue package I think rough handling shouldn't be that much an issue unless it arrive with serve damage that is plain to the eyes, but I'm still skeptical of bending/discoloring from aging. For Odin's case at least discoloring is a lesser concern due to the dark colors, but I can imagine the Shiva statue's color fading given a few years down.
