I’m going to burst these haters bubbles here. Gaming is theraputic for those who are unable to do much in the real world. A disability isn’t something we proudly tout as an excuse; if I could handle the stresses of actually working without my physical and mental handicaps, I flippin would. Whoever proudly toutes it as an excuse... blegh to them. What we are asking for is an option so that we can enjoy the game too.

Without gaming, I would never have started socializing with people again. Through the benefits and safety of being behind a screen, I got a chance to get to know people and their personalities. I’m learning social norms with people I didn’t have before. I am keeping my mind sharp, tuning some fine motor skills, and not just sitting there staring at a TV or sleeping through my entire day. MMORPG games like this allow me to combine reading, gaming, and getting involved in the storyline, and a game is great for a distraction of physical woes.

I’m getting plenty of sleep - sometimes too much sleep. Plenty of rest. I have a family and dogs, but a ton of spare time. Asking for an option for something that has largely benefited me isn’t bad. I met my RL boyfriend of 3 years through an MMO - we’re preparing for me to move in.

So please; I get plenty of rest. I am eternally bored without video games, and an option to remove the irritation of macro sound effects, the ONLY complaint i really have about this game, would make this even more beneficial to me.

I don’t need a lecture of “Oh you’re disabled you shouldn’t play.” My psycologist has been hugely supportive of the social steps I have made through MMOs.

It’s an option to disable ONE irritant.

[snip] You’re not gonna like what I say, but I’m gonna say it regardless because I want Square Enix to hear the other side.

I'm in the same position. After mental health issues caused me great stress (to the point I became unfit for work) in my last job, I've been struggling, my socialising had gone down, causing my social issues to become more acute again. My CBT therapist supported this avenue (though also believes I should try to get some IRL social training in, which I am working on). While you cannot please everyone at once, I do feel like offering this as an option (similar to how the colourblind mode was added for people with colour blindness), would be a simple and effective tool for accessibility.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
