Wait, do they? I could swear the female characters I've seen them on had bare legs...Maybe they were just dyed to match closely, though?
Either way, who thought that was a good idea? They're hideous...
We appreciate that our players are asking for more glamour options. However, the vast majority of our employees who work on these items treat their job like a hobby and feel that making attractive and sexy clothing for men is icky. But there will be one $20 male scion outfit coming to the stores for men only so we can keep pretending this system is fair and sensible. Please look forward to it.
To be fair, I think a lot of people focus a bit too much on the whole 'skimpy' gear angle. We should definitely get more of it over time and the developers should not be unprofessional about designing it. We also need the promise to add the 'bunny suit' to be honoured as it has been a considerable amount of time since it was first announced.
Putting all that aside, though, we also need more variety in general. We need to make it clear that we want more than just 'skimpy' gear for male characters and that even if the developers aren't going to be designing it for male characters there's absolutely no reason why they can't throw us a bone elsewhere by giving us different flavours. It wouldn't be perfect, but we'd still be getting something.
Overall agree, it's not difficult per se to make a revealing male glam right now, it's basically emperor's new shirt + coeurl briefs (/subligar). What's missing is the same dedication to varied and quality gear models that make male characters look good/enhance male features (same as gear that emphasizes curves) or allow for androgynous looks the way girls can choose tomboy/girly.To be fair, I think a lot of people focus a bit too much on the whole 'skimpy' gear angle. Currently, most unisex gear do a good job covering fully-covered looks (long robe/coat, plate armor), so I feel like that more middle ground options between "naked" and "you can only see my face" that veer towards less isn't a bad thing in terms of variety against what we have now. This, as someone who isn't really happy about being shirtless or in a subligar in dungeons but would like less sleeves and drapes.
But variety in models in particular is definitely a big thing. Female gear exclusively got a frilly poufy skirt (eddas gothloli dress), a backless, sleeved halter for all races (bunny top, bunny set in general), an off shoulder model (spring dress), and other varied models (Lyse's shirt is a completely new model, an ACTUAL loin cloth for pants in china dress, 1st Korean dress is a halter dress, they got some cute unique hair accessories too, so its esp prevalent in cash shop) but male options tend to be straight up just long-sleeved shirt/robe or pants and occasionally, a chest window.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Welp isnt it sad that Yda has more in her pants as a female character than a male one? x)
Anyway I would just wish for more variety for both genders but especially for male ones. And I would be fine if we have the option to decide which version we want to wear. So if a male character wants to run around in the female version, well why not? I mean it cant get worse than the pig costume. x)' And I totally would love to wear some male version simply because my character likes trousers and not always wants to wear a skirt..

Let's hope the Live Letter addresses our concerns...![]()
I doubt it with FFXIV, I expect the worst, hope for the best. Going to be triggered if Yoshida shows artwork of female outfits and none of the males.
Has Yoshida confirmed that Krile's outfit will be female exclusive?

no word on this but i, unfortunately, don't think this would happen despite krile's outfit being androgynous. just because of the fact she's a Female npc and we have yet to have any female npc outfits unlocked for males. :/
