honestly, i remember when i was a newbie back in 2k14 and my first battle class i leveled was Paladin. When i firs attempted at Castrum Meridianum, i was left with trauma. I just had to get into party of jerks with a Warrior no less, whole group been complaining that i can't do a job of MT properly and Warrior took over after 1st boss, while expressing his annoyance with whole affair. and then they began complaining that i was slow, they need me to OT ads, someone was asking to kick me. In Praetorium happened almost the same, especially since i couldn't understand when we skip trash, when we don't, people were angry at me.
Since that time i was extremely afraid of tanking and switched to SCH. only later on, when i got more experienced in the game, i resumed going as tank, mostly for raid with people from my raid community.
All in all it isn't how game, especially casual must-do content should work, it demoralizes new players, some i am sure could decide ti even quit playing after such horrible experience.

That sounds horrible. The key there is that you had jerks in your party in addition to the poor dungeon design. These days they(the jerks) are more likely to leave any new people behind and just do the dungeon without them because the high level sync allows them to bypass the need for a full group - which leads to a different set of problems and dozens of forum posts. So... progress? Not really.
