Multi-hit attacks can add a layer to a rather simple combat system. I'm all for it.

Multi-hit attacks can add a layer to a rather simple combat system. I'm all for it.
A fireball barrage for Black Mages to use for Firestarter instead of F3 or someodd. Pew pew.
Multi-hits can add something, but only if allowed to, at which point their effects tend not to feel any more a result of multiple hits than simply appended effects (e.g. a Fireball barrage reading "has 5 chances to trigger Firestarter").
It would take some fairly deep undermechanics for multi-hit attack to function uniquely from embedded effects. Though, of course, I'm all for that (provided the netcode can handle it).
