Not if you have titles tied to it. Honestly I am not even sure if its truly possible at all right now. Nobody have cleared it solo right now and thats quite the long time. Did they even test it or just said "well lets slap a solo title on this too even though its probably not even doable"..
Even if someone starts from 50 it will be hours of running the stuff on top of having certain RNG and hope that you dont DC..not talking about needing redmage to even stand a chance at all.
In the end how many people would like it if they simply introduced Bahamut Savage without testing if it can be cleared and people bashing their head against it only for it to be not possible. (Or only if the team has a certain amount of RNG on top of RNG)
Right now even if people have all the necessary chests the time is a big problem. You cant simply run around like you want, you need to wait for enemies to go by and more. At the same time you have to hope that the server does not kick you. Any failure will mean hours of work destroyed and having to start at 1 again if you want the title.
There is a challenge (and I would love to do that one) and there is something barely possible (or maybe even impossible). Putting a title behind something like that is just bad.
Yes either that and declare it not soloable or make changes that only affect people if they are solo in there.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Balancing around every class would be time consuming for devs as they never did something like that before and players would find an easy class then anyway in the end, it would be the same like with redmage now.
I really hope they look at some old content like in this case potd and add some really minor fixes, as it could turn out in a real activity if players would be able to clear it.
I predict they want to avoid separating the dungeons entirely in a group and a solo mode dungeon, it is easier for them if it stays exactly the same.
So changing potd without changing the gameplay 2much...it would be a nerf to group potd anyway, there are not really many options
They could remove the restriction to restart from 50 once you die, that would give solo players enough time to get good runs with no RNG crap.
Or create another item like sustain potion ... you would trade gelmorra shards to refresh steel pomander e.g. ...

Not necessarily. A workaround could be simply adding job specifically sustain potions to buff each job appropriate.

Funny story. That happened in 2.0.
The gear required to clear Coil didn't exist, yet. It was eventually cleared.. but only through some clever uses of Paladin and something else.

Yes. Please. I don't care what they do to adjust it as long as its adjusted to be doable, and not with extreme amounts of rng and a specific job. Either make a singular solo mode or scale the hp/damage of the mobs and bosses to the amount of people in the party (because half the time the 190 boss just about two shot anyone who isn't a tank with autos, steel pomander or not). later mobs also hit like a truck with damage that is meant for a tank. Sure you can kite around with certain specific jobs but that's really just limiting. Nobody wants to take the amount of time, usually a minimum of 8 hours, just to get to 170+ and wipe because bad rng/wrong job/scaling is too high.

It is easier to tune down the difficulty if they allow to get 70 at PotD.
Well imo thats not a good way to design content. It should be clear-able with the highest amount of gear at release (and skill). Anything else is just bad implementation.
And with palace of the death we simply cant outgear it. We might stand a chance if they would allow solo players to go into this as Lvl70 with more stats towards gear and weapon. But right now even in x amount of months it will probably still not be cleared because there are way too many layers of "difficulty" in this. RNG of the chests, RNG of the monster spawns, RNG of the traps, DC happening all the time (lost more runs thanks to a DC than to a death that was my fault), timer, and only one job that even stands a chance. Having to avoid certain monsters or losing it thanks to a trap is fine. But all the other things are completely out of anyones hand and thus there is no way to overcome that.
Like I wrote, I am not even sure if they ever truly tested if you can do it solo. And if they did not then it would just be bad because one should not implement something (especially not with an achievement on top of that) that might not even be doable at all.

I'm pretty sure they did not test it, this achievement looks like a big trolling from SE.
Kudos to those people who tried, but i'm pretty sure they understand that.. this is "mission impossible".
Something must be done.
Maybe scale player to level 70(from Floor 150 and onwards) if solo.
