Healing Copperbell Hard Things go fine till last boss DPS ignores feeding the worm tanks health dropping faster than anything because the dps wont feed the worm or even aoe the adds inevitable wipe because I go oomp trying to keep up with the raid buster and the adds piling on the tank like hyenas after a steak. second time I'm the one feeding the worm dps is still tunnelling on boss and standing in the orange lights I stop healing the dps and keep the tank alive I dont bother wasting a res I dps and keep the tank up through it all boss goes down. DPS goes worst healer ever and leaves I still get a commendation.

Didn't realize giving AOE spears and balances if they were available was a bad thing....is this meta too? Good thing I'm anti-meta.

Why would you be against it O.o? Usually in dungeons it is more helpful for your DPS in there to give them single target cards. Tanks generally stay in tank stance which makes it not very beneficial to give them cards. I mean if everyone was DPSing including the healer and the tank was stance dancing then it wouldn't be too bad to AoE, but in my experience that isn't the norm.

It's just great in 8 man duties because there are double the players so it is the number one best option there. So I get why I see ASTs AoE in dungeons and it's whatever, it isn't a big deal, but usually it would be better to single target.

So no reason to be against it when it is just a bit more helpful on most occasions for your DPS jobs in dungeons ^^

It's about efficiency. Chances are you'll have one DPS that's out-performing the other. You get more bang for you buck potency-wise when you single target the buff on the good DPS rather than distributing it at half potency to everyone.

Personally I will toss AoE cards if I get unlucky and don't want to go over a minute of not having buffs up. And I won't complain about ASTs in 4-man content about using cards, provided they're using them at all. Though sometimes I wish they'd remember that they can do more than just draw and use them.

Additionally, if the DPS are using enmity reductions, it can be kinda hard to tell who's doing better than who (unless the difference is really obvious). Assuming you don't have the cognitive ability to factor in differences in gear while following the rotations of two people while also doing your own job (and this probably happening while doing wall-to-wall pulls, if we're talking current level 70 content). Which, I'd think, I'm in the majority in not being able to do. :P AoE cards are the "safe" option there (and even then a single-target would probably be better, but hey it's not a big deal in the end).

So yeah, expanded royal road is fine in the end, but if you can differentiate a better DPS out of the 2, boosted single target cards are more efficient.

In my opinion, it's better to have the healer dealing with the worm's food, so the DPS can kill the boss faster and/or take care of the adds. Usually this is a given, but sometimes it doesn't hurt to ask if there's someone wanting to take care of it. This way you avoid that confusing situation you had at first.

We might end up with another debate if we continue this line of discussion haha. I main astro, but I was specifically arguing against the comment that AOE'ing cards is generally a bad idea. Which is isn't. And it isn't as if I seek out AOE purposely...I just will not waste an opportunity to AOE if that's all I pulled in a draw. I single target when available, but if I AOE, why is it shameful to not use it? On the anti-meta aspect...truth be told, the only meta is to 'git gud'. If you do your job right, there shouldn't be a problem, hence why a DRK got a clear in the first round of Bahamut Ultimate World Clears, instead of the very meta WAR/PLD combo.

I tried running expert roulette today. First big pull of Ala Mhigo and things are dying super slow. Notice the BLM is spamming F3. After the pull I ask why and says “I’m picking stuff off my bar shh” and I nope’d the hell out of there.

2nd Boss BLM got petrified in his leylines because he couldn't be bothered to turn around.
3rd boss, he ate 4 debuff stacks (ouch) because he wouldn't move out of his leylines.
Last boss, he ate the debuffs from Universal Manipulation because, guess what? The portals aren't leylines. No use standing in one of them then, eh?
