MMOs are games that are supposed to live, grow, and develop over many years. Any tie to a specific console is going to limit it going forward and that's simply a fact - unless SE is willing to be continuously dropping consoles. Considering how long it took them to drop PS3 support, I doubt they'd do that on a more aggressive timescale.

I mean it would be awesome to play it on switch since you can play it anywhere, but I don't want limitations so just keep it on PC please :<

This is the fault of Xbox though. You have to look at it form the perspective that back when FFXIV was a risky venture Xbox wanted nothing to do with it unless they got their own Servers, but SE didn't want to do that. Now Sony is in a position of power because Switch/Xbox want to gain those numbers that playstation has for trusting SE with 2.0

I suggested mass combat to stress the system. Once you load the background into memory it shouldn't be too hard on the system. Load up a frontline with 72 players casting spells trying to kill each other in a tight space. Loading and rendering all those spell effects rather randomly being called for and players coming and going should put it through its paces.

And they have the opportunity now to up the production values to what the PS4 can handle now that the PS3 is out of the picture but:

I guess we're downgrading that potential for the switch?

I'll bite why won't you touch savage on it? Don't think it can handle it well enough for that kind of gameplay? Please tell me it's your aversion to gamepads and not that. If it's because you don't think it can handle it, that's reason enough not to port it.

As far as the convenience of portability the switch can bring, correct me if I'm wrong as I don't have a PS3 or 4 or a recent PSP but I do recall Sony marketing being able to play your playstation 3? or 4 games on your PSP via streaming? Does that not already satisfy what you want the switch for?

That would be the PS Vita, and as someone who has used it at many a ffxiv lan party before getting a laptop, I would wager that if we were talking strictly streaming (not sure what from in the case of the Switch), the Switch would likely handle that much better than the Vita due to hardware. Larger controls and screen make it far more practical as well.

They had to reduce the experts per patch cycle from 4 to 3, and this last patch gave us all of two things; rival wings and perform. Why on earth is porting it over to two different consoles, one that is portable (which means you need to optimize it for both on the road use and docked) even obtainable? That means they need to balance patches for 2 more platforms and do a tremendous amount of work. We'd get no content again ever.

For me, it is the aversion to controllers. I won't even do combat based gameplay on it. Crafting is a bit of a tough one for me too, gathering and managing retainers is the only thing I can pull off to any degree beyond being the worst 0.000000000000001% of the playerbase using a controller (a gamepad to me is something akin to the Razer Orbweaver). That's how infused into keyboard and mouse I am. Here's the thing, if we drop the console support, this game is likely to die. I'd wager that the majority of the playerbase is PS4 (because I'd say the majority of PC MMORPG players are playing World of Warcraft, which is PC only but has a huge following). Xbox and Switch would allow SE to get better sub numbers. How much so, I don't know. Would it be worth it? Who knows. But, I don't think FFXIV can afford to drop all console support.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

I find it pretty rude that Yoshi is sniffing around the Switch when SE cannot be bothered to localize the NINTENDO MMO they already have in Dragon Quest X. Kindly sort your selves out.

The Vita actually works shockingly well at letting you play the game. Trying to use that rear touch pad as buttons is just horrific though

Um what, play it everwhere? Have you forgotten that this game is an MMO and requires constant internet acces?

The pro controller would just be as the PS4 controller I assume so that would be playable?
But how would you play it with those joy con sticks? Let's forget the fact that you need to be 100% online for now... how would that actually be 'good' on such a small screen and those horrible joy-con sticks? With all those buttons you have on your hotbar?

How would one beat ultimate bahamuth on that tiny screen with Joy-con sticks?
