They've had three years or so worth of break since they started neglecting male characters with glamour releases. It's time for the break to be over and for them to get to work on fixing the problem.

It's funny, because I explained this issue to a friend of mine who doesn't play FFXIV and doesn't really care that much (But I was fuming pretty hard and needed to vent), and his reaction to the mention that part of the problem is the devs 'not being comfortable' doing certain modeling work for male characters, and that project needing to wait until there were sufficient female staff free to work on it (as was said regarding the bunny suit a while back), his response was a shocked 'wait, is this a JOB or a HOBBY for them?'

The issue is, they also need to turn a profit. I can see why they prioritize female glamours for that reason. They'll sell better. As for male glamours, its certainly easier to adapt existing assets, like they did with Aymeric. FFXIV is a wonderful game, and growing in popularity, but it still is growing, and needs to generate profit to stay competitive in the MMO market.

I wasn't aware Gold Saucer glamour was giving SE money.

It's almost like only women can look good in clothing. Because bust, butt, legs, hips. Men? Naw. Men don't have anything on their bodies that any human on this earth would like to see with clothes.

The male mogstation outfits are basically rags and metal lv30 leveling gear. The only sets worth something are Cid, Thancred v2, and Aymeric(and females have the hair) Females have Minfillia, Y'shtola v2, Edda, and now Lyse. Obviously sales for female glamours will be up if both of the newest sets have been locked to females. Obviously sales will be up if the devs are too uncomfortable to make anything remotely good-looking for men.

That makes it sound like we only have 10% male characters and 90% female characters but thats not true. We still have quite a bit of male characters (one census was around half each?) and we also read that some posters only changed to female because they hate the bad glamours for male.

Also this is a digital good and it might cost some money to change it for the male (or female depending on the original gender) but if its done once you wont have any more costs for it. Thus after a certain number of sold items you will make pure profit out of this. Seeing how they said that the cash shop runs on its own money and that they get lots of money for things like fantasia one would believe that they have enough money to do a version for both genders. Heck a lot of people simply want an outfit for each gender released at the same time. So they could simply have released Lyses and Hiens outfit. (If it was not ready they could have waited till both are)

But yeah what can one get from a company that fears creating cute/sexy outfits for males and that still cant give the bunny set for male characters after years of promising it.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
