It's time to reinstate Housing Auto-Demolitions

If they do that all housing will eventually become is a monument to people who don't even play the game anymore. You'd effectively remove a feature for all future players.

Then they should figure out a way to make it accessible for everyone. Not add in a housing demolition timer.
I hope they come up with a housing solution in 4.2, and dump the demolition timer entirely.
If they can't find an actual solution, I'd still be for dumping the timer.

Honestly though the demolition timer is pretty forgive if you're actually using your house, and if you aren't you can now add friends to the property to keep it around in your stead. I'm personally a little biased since both the previous FC I was in and my current one have all been in the same sub-ward with this one mansion that legitimately sat unfurnished for a year and a half save a summoning bell, aesthetician, and a mendor. It was there when I first joined the game and only recently got bought out as well by an active FC once I imagine the owner got sick of only having it for the call bells and mender. Even back then Balmung's wards were full and it was dreadfully annoying to see someone who didn't even bother with airships sit on a plot and do nothing, even though it's their money and their right. If we had proper instanced housing for all it wouldn't be an issue but that sort of problem is just something I see becoming more prevalent if they drop the demolition timer without fixing the underlying problems in the system.

Yeah, it's annoying, but I still don't want a timer. I completely dislike this temporary "solution" and I don't think it should stay.

Tenants do not reset the timer on personal houses, others in the FC will reset it for an FC house though.

Why should the majority of players suffer because of an impact to a potential handful from Puerto Rico? When Irma happened it was exceptional, but now the fallout is no different than in any country any day.

Further, I'd argue the situation has changed since then and the housing crisis of 4.1, coupled with spiralling black market costs, should be a good reason to reward people who actually play the game with a chance to own a house. For this reason the system was conceived in the first place.

Wow really? You want to claim you're "suffering" for not having a house in FF14 compared to people who don't have power or other basic utilities because of extensive infrastructure damage? Yes, flippers suck. Yes the housing situation in the game sucks, but get some perspective.

You are not losing anything by not having a house. If you don't like the cost of buying a house from other players then don't pay the cost and wait for whatever fixes SE makes in 4.2 and try your luck then.
