    It's silly. People make musical levels in Mario Maker all the time that cover a wide variety of songs and Nintendo actually features the level...

    So we have two Japanese-based companies with contradictory practices. 0.o

    Welcome to Japan. Though Nintendo isn't the best example because they're the same company that will copyright claim any of their works, even if it's just a few seconds of footage on a review. They're also the company where their NA and JP offices are at odds, with one being alright with Fair Use and the other only being alright when it benefits them.
