You said it yourself though, this is a vocal minority and don't represent the server at large.

They do represent you, so far as they are speaking for all of Balmung. I would like to believe that there are a lot of people on Balmung who don't behave like this, but they're staying silent. They're not representing themselves. I mean, if you want Balmung to have a better reputation, then just make a thread and discuss it. Speak up and prove that there's more to your server than just the vocal minority. More importantly, bring it up when someone from said vocal minority tries to smear your reputation even more, so that you can make it absolutely clear thar you don't approve of their actions.

Give me a pen, I'm ready to sign. Seriously though, just stop with the 'UNLOCK BALMUNG' crap already. They are not going to open it and your complaining isn't getting you anywhere. Don't like it? Then stop threatening to leave and just do it. SE doesn't need ONLY your subs to keep going.

Stop being an entitled brat and move on already. Make friends with the people you have on the server and deal with it. You wanna complain about your dying community? Then improve it. WORK FOR IT, do what every other server does, every other community does, and build yourselves back up in quality.

Don't know why anyone would wanna be on Balmung anyway with how childish and stupid certain key members of the server are acting.

You said it yourself though, this is a vocal minority and don't represent the server at large. These people throwing fits don't represent us and I for one disagree with the repeated threads crying for the unlock.

The thing is? They very much are representing you and your server. This is a forum to give feedback for the devs to read and act on. If they are seeing constant cries to open Balmung from Balmung players, they can interpret that as Balmung actually needing it. So in the end, threads like these need to be made to show SE the true opposition to opening the server.

In reality, those quiet people are making the possibility of Balmung being open again closer. Because they aren't opposing, might as well say they agree.

How do we say we want the server opened without being told we're whining or whatever other sorts of diminutive insults that we're being given. If we say "I'd really like Balmung to open again, please" it gets overlooked and people who don't even play on Balmung step in and say uninformed things.

If we give detailed reasoning as to why we want it open, we're called entitled and long winded.

Because your demands to have it open are self centered and selfish. An overcrowded Balmung affects lots of people on your server and you sure don't speak for them all and the data center as well. The server is overcrowded, should have been locked long ago, and WILL BE opened when the population gets more in line with what is acceptable just like Gilgamesh.

I have a toon there by the way and the server is more than populated and active and is certainly fine in my view.

See, right here, I just wanted to state my opinion and request, and instantly its turned around to make me sound whiny, entitled, self centered, etc. I was asking nicely, and asking how more nicely I could get my request to be heard. I never said I spoke on behalf of all of Balmung. Nothing in it was demanding, just a personal preference, so please lay off the attacks.

The server is populated and active, sure, but it's not really thriving. It's kind of quarantined without much life. It's really, really hard to recruit for FCs. Not just me, but I've heard it from other FC leaders as well. There's just not much potential to grow there, since many people are set in their current FCs or want to remain solo.

Oh it's thriving alright. There is nothing wrong with the current population other than being overcrowded. The demands to open it in spite of the overcrowding are what then exactly if not self centered and selfish? You know I have a main on a server that was depopulated because of the raiding scene and all the people wanting to go to the promised lands of Balmung and Gilgamesh.

Relative to whiny, I never said that, but relative to self centered and selfish, yes I stand by that statement.

I might add that the repopulation efforts by SE have done wonders on designated servers which are finally getting repopulated and are starting to flourish.

Because at least once before Balmung went down and took all of Aether with it. You know what else is on Aether, my own server Coeurl and several others besides. The Balmung Aether crash of HW is what got your server restricted and ultimately, when people continued to pay to transfer there, completely locked. Your numbers were quite simply too high. So the rest of us eyeball you as this massively unstable behemoth that, when it explodes, will take us with you. We don't want that, what logical person would? So the rest of us support SE's plan to completely prevent new people from joining the server until enough of the older folks have left.

I mean, either side is self centered and selfish if you put it that way. If you want Balmung to remain closed so people will go to your server and populate it, that's kind of the same vein. Maybe myself and the FC leaders I know are just bad then, because we spend days recruiting (PF, whispering people, shouting in cities) with no yield, because there aren't many people who are looking for FCs. I've tried joining other FCs on my alts and they mostly fall apart due to the inability to recruit anyone new. I see so many 3-5 person FCs that are trying really hard to get off the ground, but it's not really possible. No FC that I know of that started since Balmung has closed has really made it off the ground (getting a fairly good amount of active members.) If you know of one, I'd love to hear of it.
