They won't remove it. Other MMOs have this and had no copyright issues. Hell they don't even bother to action people who do use 3rd party songs, despite disclaimers saying they would. I doubt SE would either. It would take effort away from protecting people from parses.

That's irrelevant. They don't have the resources nor the manpower to police this. The statement is a 'Cover our Rear' measure at best.

Could you imagine that? A GM having to listen to everyone playing around and try to recognize a 3rd party song? Not gonna happen. And if the GM's are Japanese themselves.. well.. their ability to recognize western songs is going to be limited.

I find you don't really hear people playing their harps if the camera is far away enough from them. Also BGM does a pretty good job of drowning it out at least somewhat.

The only conceivable way anyone will face punishment for this is if they're really blatant about it and whoever owns the rights to the music makes a formal legal complaint. This way, SE can punish the player and absolve themselves of responsibility.

GM's get pretty cranky if you /grovel too many times. That doesn't even make noise. I wouldn't be surprised if people tried throwing reports over people just toying with the keys because of it being a new feature.

(Also, I know it's just to avoid copyright, but their wording makes it sound like you aren't allowed to play SE stuff unless it's FFXIV)

Just because it's pointless to you doesn't make it pointless to others and that's a pretty selfish way of thinking. If there's a simple way to make a toggle to turn on or off perform then they should add it in. We shouldn't have to turn off other pc sounds just so we don't want to hear people spamming performs or listening to them play it everywhere. Some people are bothered by the sounds and having a way to turn that feature off that wouldn't involve a lot of work should be an option for people.

If it's a lot of work or involves too much then sure, not a big deal but if it's simple enough to do then there's no reason not to. I mean they did it with gauss barrel for the people that thought it looked ugly and I would imagine that's a lot more pointless to most people.

Couldn't care less if it is selfish to you but I will say it as it is. You won't get "sugar coated" statements from me.

It's like me saying: this shop sells things too expensive then the one next door. Just because it's more doesn't mean I'm gonna complaint about it , I just go to the other one.
