Can DRK complete all content at the same ilvl as the other tanks?

Can DRK compete for world first?

Can DRK do dps that is within 10% of the other tanks?

Can DRK mitigate all bosses and mechanics as of this tier?


If you answered "Yes!" to all these questions, then you as a dev can justify tank balance.

Pretty much. Whether DRK is good or not is an endless debate honestly but for practical purposes all 3 are capable of the same content and at a far closer margin than in Heavensward, which in an MMO is as good an approximation for balanced as we'll likely see.

I'd take you more seriously if you weren't trying to emulate meme arrows from some laotian stamp-collecting board. You asked a question, I answered. Whether or not that suits your arbitrary criteria, that's beyond my concern.

Probably why it took the dev team an entire expansion to fix pld. It was viable, just not as effective as the other tanks in most endgame content, like how drk is now. Probably will also take until next expansion to see anything significant for drk with the way the dev team/yoshi-p seem to view drk at the moment.

Hmm well they seem to be a bit more wary of letting big divides open up this time around so one imagines there will eventually be a DRK update sometime this expansion, it's just probably not going to be as sweeping a change as people might want.

Personally, I'm waiting for the next live letter.

If they still don't address some of the issues the DRK community has mentioned, and take the world first clear with a DRK as excuse why not to touch the job, that'll most likely upset alot of DRK players.

We don't need sweeping changes to bring us up to par with PLD and WAR. Those overhauls of the entire job design/skills are something for 5.0, to make the job something more than Souleater combo. (Obviously exaggerated.)

The most immediate problems can be ironed out by some tweaking, not even as "demanding" as what they've done with WAR.

I wasn't saying DRK *needs* sweeping changes. Just that a lot of players in some of these DRK threads have posted laundry lists of changes they either want or need and that whatever changes are made likely won't meet those expectations. It'll be tweaks as you say

I'm all for some major mechanial changes to DRK, but we should keep it real for now.
