Is /shutdown the same thing as ALT+F4?
Dunno, never played FFXI to know that thing.
Yeah, it doesn't take a year to design nor implement a shut down command, it's hard to ignore they had bigger priorities ahead of them, i.e battle system reform which does take a significant amount of time.
Yep, the way FFXI did it was you either logged out to be taken back to the character select or POL, or shutdown to completely close the game, so it's basically alt+f4.
Ah, I see. Oh well, I have an F4, and an ALT so I'll never use it =)
wait...
I think I'll try with someone who wants to leave party and doesn't know the command/how to exit from it =D
Well, alt+f4 doesn't store your new macro configs (basically any client-side alterations) and, in FFXI, it used to screw up your inventory.
WOOT! YESWe’ll be implementing the ability to use the text command “/shutdown” in patch 1.20.
By entering the text command “/shutdown,” players will be able to shut down the game client without having to return to the character selection screen and continue the process to shut down.
We’ll also be making a change to the “log out” option from the main menu. When selecting “log out” from the main menu, players will be able to select whether to return to the character selection screen or completely shut down the game client.
We appreciate your patience so far and ask that you hang on a bit longer until patch 1.20.
um. . . isn't it just faster to hit the windows key when in fullscreen, or hit CTRL ALT DEL (for w7 and vista) when the window is up?
