Considering leaving mateus, looking for new non-rp focused NA server

My guild members and I are just really turned off by what Mateus has become. As someone who started out in Mateus over a year ago I really miss what it used to be like. What would, in your opinion, be a good server to move to that has a small Rp community hopefully with newer players in general. Thanks for the input, not trying to ruffle any feathers saying Mateus is bad, I just miss how it used to be.

Try Jenova. There's a decent RP community but we're not RP focused or any sort of unofficial RP server.

Zalera is where you might want to go. It's the new lowest population server and it isn't RP as far as I'm aware.

When I heard of people leaving Balmung, Zalera honestly never came up and to my knowledge there isn't any established RP network on that server. Probably your best bet if small and cozy is what you're looking for.

As someone who came to Zalera from Balmung I can attest to it's coziness. It took a little while for me to find my FC but now that I've got them I'm really happy with things in general.

I will say bring as much stuff with you as you can - our MB is definitely a seller's market. You can make good gil here but if you don't craft/gather it can be a pricy place to live.

Adding on to this, best way to make money is to craft Raptorskin Rings for Fieldcraft Demi Is, desynth i180 crafting gear for Fieldcraft IIIs. They are always hot on the market, glass fibers, darksteel ingots, etc. High price fast sales too.

For the Mateus natives, once the free transfers began there was an absolutely massive number of transfers, the majority of which were role players, in to our previously smallest population server. To add context, 20-30 people at an S rank on Mateus was a massive turnout at the time.

Our housing market, which had several empty wards, were suddenly filled to capacity with every house snatched up and the common areas like Uldah were absolutely swarming with role players. For those of us that prefer the smaller servers it was a jarring change to say the least.

We now had hundreds of people at S ranks, crowds of people filling our char when it used to be quiet, and the “small neighborhood” feel of the place where we all knew each other was gone.

It causes lag in areas where there didn’t used to be, people disconnecting from how crowded it is, and tons of people that us folks that started on Mateus didn’t know.

Not to mention actual login queues to the server which NEVER happened before because our server was so tiny. I don’t blame the OP for wanting to leave.
