Hmm... playing in a laptop is not the best thing, especially with FFXIV. Sorry, I didn't know this, but if you're playing in low FPS it can't be helped. I hope for you that you'll have a good PC soon!See here's another thing. While that's all well and good for some people here, obviously with what I stated earlier that's not going to work for me. I am running on a laptop, in windowed mode, with low FPS and not much screen real estate. Why bother filling up more real estate with another window when I can obviously see when he's going to do an attack?
If it works for you, fantastic. I am in the process of building a computer so eventually I won't have to deal with the low FPS and small real estate again; however, considering the pose method works equally well (if not moreso) plus the fact that it doesn't take as much room, I don't even see how it matters as there is no dice to the argument. He crouches, you move, cracks will happen in 1-2 seconds.
The thing is though that even with my low FPS and insane lag I still manage to do everything effectively with little to no error lol. Which goes back to my initial point that there's no excuse for people doing poorly "due to lag" because it's not lag it's human error. Lag is a challenge, the goal is to overcome the challenge by doing better.
LAG is the easiest and most common excuse across a ton of games. Playing an FPS and someone dies "WTF LAG!", MMO "Why did you get hit by the fire?" "WTF LAG!", Tetris "Why did you get the Z on the bottom..." "WTF LAG!"The thing is though that even with my low FPS and insane lag I still manage to do everything effectively with little to no error lol. Poor LAG can't even come to his own defense.
Awww Renshi, dont dis laptops, I play on one, and get around 15-30 FPS depending on circumstances.
To play FFXIV on a laptop you need to put alot of money in because overall laptops cost more than PCs because.
a. you cant really build your own because the parts arent usually available.
b. OEMs need to make all the parts smaller for laptops, which costs more money to manufacture etc etc.
Well, I'm playing on a "laptop" too. Don't worry man, I don't dislike laptops, but I don't prefer them as gaming platforms =)Awww Renshi, dont dis laptops, I play on one, and get around 15-30 FPS depending on circumstances.

Story is that: I bought my computer in order to just work and play some low-end games. Since I like drawing and doing some little good works, I've aimed on a powerful set up, having an i7 960, Mobility Radeon HD4850 and 8GB of RAM.
I've never thought to use my computer on games like Final Fantasy XIV, but when I tried I discovered some of the true powerz of my computer, and can play high-end games just fine.
Conclusion? FFXIV runs good on an iMac!
