Well, the reason I wasn't pulling more is that during the lead up to the first boss when I did pull everything I could, the healer didn't dps and the DRG didn't use any AOE.

DPS not using their AoE feels like an epidemic. In Skalla I will pull up to the first wall and gauge how well the party is doing with big pulls. I had one run where neither DPS was using their AoE so I decided single pulls would be slower but less stress on me and the healer. The healer then tells me to pull more because he can keep me up. I said “nah, they’re not aoeing.” And nothing else was said.

In fact, this groups dps was so bad that on the second boss 2 adds blew up because they weren’t killed fast enough.

I am so pissed off right now. Just got out of a 50/60 roulette, and queued as DRK. Got Wanderer's Palace HM, and I immediately told these guys that it was my first time tanking the instance. They proceeded to make things as difficult as possible for me. Sprinting and pulling ahead of me (even the bosses), not minding my MP when I said I was low so I couldn't even get unleashes off to grab hate, and they left me to kill adds while just focusing the boss even though the adds for the second and last boss need to die to make things easier. I told my FCs resident DRK about it, and he believes I was trolled. Not even the healer had my back

:/ I can relate tbh. I stopped leveling my PLD at around 63 because people are just so ridiculously pushy it becomes too much of a hassle.

Pull one pack: omg, pull more this is too slow wtf
Pull more than one pack: stupid tank we can't take these much, this is a leveling dungeon
People pulling before you, no aggro mitigation, no nothing, the die: omg what are you doing your job is to TANK them

I've picked up PLD again now, what I have been doing is scaling up or down the amount of f**ks I give to match the team - team does well, are good or doing good in learning their job, team players? Yeah, ok, I'll do my best. If they're a bunch of trash piles who inexplicably gained sentience, well. I'm not gonna burn myself out for them... I mean, if they pull something... they probably want to test their own tankiness, no? :^)

One fine night on a levelling roulette as a Drk, the roulette arrow pointed at Toto Rak. All well and good, got a Sam and mch as dps, and a healer I can't quite remember off the top of my head. So there's this part of the map where it splits into 2 path and we pick one to go on. At least that was the plan, until halfway through one of the path the mch sprinted off and ran down the other path. I barely noticed until I saw the Mch's name faded and hp dropping fast, I sprinted off to grab all the mobs he decided to pull from the other path. He pulled the entire path. Every. Single. One. Of. Them. Healer did a great job keeping all of us alive *hats off*, mobs died fairly quickly thankfully. Gave a little warning to him and moved on.

Later on down this stretch of road where something in the dungeon will suck you in and seal off the path, which is ok and all, until said same Mch decided to run ahead (again) and there was a pop up saying "xxx has been sealed off." We already got quite a sizeable group of mobs on our hands thanks to said Mch antics (he went ahead and pulled again), and the healer whispered to me telling me to just let him bite the dust, and so we did. Le mch just laid there for a good amount of time till we got to him and the healer ressed. By that point it's already near the end of the dungeon so nothing much for him to pull.

I get non tank pulling a couple more mobs for kicks or whatnot, but pulling an entire path is definitely not for kicks.

Was leveling my pld, went into the Vault. 1st pulls was ok, defeated 1st boss without real problem but felt I was underhealed as I used clemency more times then I really need to.

Next corridor I always pull whole before wall, do I done it again, healer never bothered to sprint near me, and during pull he just stopped, I didn't receive any heal. Wipe.

He said his windows accidentally Alt tabbed the game and he is sorry, I decided to just pull corridor without last 2 mobs, we killed it pretty ez even tho I again felt underhealed.

Pull b4 2nd boss, 3 monks and 2 horses, easy pull, right? Well we wiped even tho I rotated cds but as healer said - " you just suddenly dropped from 100 to 0, you are lagging"... I refused by saying it's his fault we wiped, during this time one DPS left, one BLM joined immediately so it wasn't a problem. Ok we killed last stuff b4 boss and started fighting him...

The healing was so damn terrible, he almost never healed DPSs and at the end one of them died, while other was so close to death.

I babypulled until last boss, and...we wiped on it, he couldn't heal not even DPS, but even me or himself, I felt like I was main healer...

And then I decided to look at his gear. He used casting and fending right parts, his gear was terrible. So I vote kicked him, other mnk complained about kicking people is toxic and eletistic...so he left himself. Me and BLM was just...wow. How some people can be this bad and ignorant about it as this healer.

We waited and danced few minutes with newly joined Sam, heal joined, we killed boss easily, happy end.

I think playing a tank can be fun but this community can ruin it for many people starting out. Then they complain, "Why is there a shortage of tanks?" Are you f**king kidding me?

Reminds me of this tidbit (not quoted word for word, but got the general gist):

I'm a tank/heal main and generally just put up with it, but the amount of people I want to grab my ex's kendo stick and shove it up their backside is unreal. Funnily enough, she's a healer main herself, so she'll likely make me wait in line to shove it up their backside.

Had some DC issues and bad luck in the 50/60 last night but the group finished off the final boss on their own and were super nice. Then on leveling I got Darkhold. I DC'd right as last boss fight started but got back into the server fairly fast. The tank had DC'd and died while I was gone so it was me and the two DPS finishing that boss. Yay for decent and nice players beating the new challenge mode that started popping up this week.

Finally saw the fabled loldrg moment again after many many months. Alliance roullete landed me in a hot mess of a wiping city, but the loldrg moment during first boss made my entire night

Raid share goes up and everyone stacks. Then at the very last split second the dragoon it was on elusive jumped out of the way and solod it, thus tanking the floor. It was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

So I decided to do 50/60 as blm and I get Keeper of the Lake. New bonus message appears and I figure, yay second chance! might actually get to do my job as mentor... You have no idea how unhappy I was to be proven right. See, we noticed very, very quickly that the tank was not good at holding hate. We soon saw he wasn't using flash. So we told him to use it, I suggested that he use it 2-3 times each pack, and added in that it's usually good enough under tank stance.

He then asked a simple question that set all of us to panicking. "What's tank stance?"

I hoped that no one had informed him that's what Shield Oath is commonly called, took the time to inform him and added in a bit about sword oath being the dps stance, and we moved on... with him still not using flash. after taking down the third trash pack, I asked what role actions he had(never did get an answer to that actually). He then said, as the 4th pack spotted him, "Lol I'm still new to this." and "I prefer dpsing."(his only other 2 classes were RDM and SAM.)

I... was very close to snapping. I can understand that line in a lowerlevel dungeon. But not knowing the basics in Keeper of the Lake? No no no. That is one of those that makes me question my decision to take mentoring seriously. Well we decided to roll with the punches. we taught him what we could(though he still rarely flashed letting all the mobs hug me and the healer) and we eventually made it to the end.

I marked two waypoints and instructed him to bring the first dragon to A when it spawned, and the second to B. He got the first one perfectly! Gave me hope for the rest of the fight. Misplaced once again as he blatantly ignored both me and the SAM telling him to get the second one to B. Thankfully it wasn't that big of a problem as it just meant less damage to the dragon. But believe me, I could not get out of there fast enough once the big guy finally fell. To the healer and the other dps, you were saints. I very nearly ate that penalty at first and while I don't know what was going through your heads, but you were kinder than I was in the chat.

Most tanks (And some healers) I know have a simple policy with this. If someone pulls that's not a tank, they'll issue a warning. If they continue, then they'll let them have the add and won't bother to try to save them. They don't like it, they can stop pulling or boot em so they can get a group that will bother to play correctly. Give it a try the next time you get a group of fools like this.

I have now adopted this policy. If I was the healer in this PUG knowing that the tank is new, I definitely would have said something. I guess because I'm so inexperienced as a tank, and was very close to leveling to 52, I just took it. I do have a lot to learn still. Including to not deal with crap like this. Thank you. I am a healer main as well, and been playing since 3.1. In all that time, I've never witnessed a tank get treated this way. It makes me feel like I shouldn't even tell the group I'm new in fear of being trolled again. That's what happens when players do this.

I still want to tank, but I don't really feel like queuing up for 50/60 right now. As a result, I will queue up specifically for a leveling instance like Dusk Vigil. So tonight, the community has one less tank queueing up for 50/60 all thanks to just two self-entitled players who decided to be asshats to a new tank. I'll take care of 50/60 with one of my healers for the poetics. I wonder how many other tanks are feeling just like I am right now for the same reason?

You are right. Tanking really is a lot of fun. Plus, I am really enjoying DRK. I won't let a couple douchebags take that away from me. It is just really unfortunate that the polite and respectful DPS players out there have to pay the price for their actions. If/when it happens again, I have no problem with the 30 minute penalty for leaving if the group decides to ignore any warning I give
