Yikes! That's pricey. For 200 seals per venture you can use a miner retainer to get 9 gold ore I believe (level 50). That gets you 3 rose gold nuggets (combined with 3 copper ore which is super cheap at vender), and takes 2 nuggets to make one rose gold cog to turn in for a pair of glasses at Talan in RT. So average over multiple ventures is 267 seals = one pair of Artisan's Specs

Am I mathing right? (not online rn). 5000 seals just seems so excessive comparatively if this is correct.

Yeah, the turn-in method at Talan is still the cheapest. Spending 5K seals is definitely "burning" the seals... It is a viable option when you have a zillion seals to spare though, but no time to make the cogs. I've been leveling multiple DoM/DoW, so I just got way too many seals... Anyway, like magnanimousCynic said, specs aren't even the best option for Mastercraft. The tools are. But they're even more expensive... if I remember correctly, each tool is like 7500 seals.
