    Moreover, it sounds like you're operating under the assumption that you need to catch every spawn. You really don't and its unlikely that you'll never get an S-rank kill even if you don't properly network.

    But again, hunt linkshells help. As does responding to calls you see quickly. And the tracker assuming its being used correctly.

    Actively hunt, use your server's hunt linkshells, and find out what times they're usually being spawned, and it likely won't take 30 years. Or wait for the cash shop version that will inevitably come out.

    Exactly my point the way it stands right now. There is no way you are getting this mount by just casually hunting like the person I replied to thinks you can do.

    Actually, it is because the server decided that. The server just doesn't decide that after a certain amount of time like with the A ranks, but it has a chance to decide that every time you meet the spawn condition. And in the case of most S ranks, the server can also arbitrarily decide it doesn't want to spawn that S rank. Most S ranks are gated behind at least that RNG if not other RNGs like fishing.

    But again, hunt linkshells help. As does responding to calls you see quickly. And the tracker assuming its being used correctly.
    All this told me is that you think you're talking to people who don't know how to hunt or how the system works. You're not. We're just still criticizing the system.

    Just to clarify something, neither "Gold saucer players" or raiders can enjoy of their bragging rights forever. Raids get nerfed because of echo, overgearing, heck! you can even buy your clears! and it doesn't depend on your schedule. MGP is easy to obtain (challenge log, MGP events, many sources). It doesn't depend on your schedule either. Hunts, specifically S ranks, are a static resource it gets worse as people get better gear, as they just get deleted from the map when they spawn. They can pop or can't pop when you're offline. Realistically, the achievement is insane. Halving it would make more sense than just keeping it as it is.

    Other than that, I completely agree with everything William said.

And as you only need to tag the S-rank to get credit, the only way it gets worse with time is if your server is full of people who pull the second they see it. Additionally more hunts are added every expansion.

    Lots of things happen when you're AFK or offline. Gathering nodes, GS events, farm parties, big boss fates, etc. Hell for the first like month of Stormblood I couldn"t get my last 2 Ixion horns because he kept spawning while I was at work, in class, or asleep. That's just bad luck.
    If you want the mount, hunt for it. If you're going to criticize the system, ask for things that would make the hunt system better. 24-36 hour respawn times instead of 72, more health/ survivability for hunt mobs, tougher mechanics, or just more unique hunts in general. Halfing the criteria for the mount isn't going to solve the base problem.

    New hunt mobs will be added, yes--but the old ones will get progressively weaker due to overgearing, and die faster until they are practically soloable, so to an extent, that will cancel out the gains made by adding new mobs.

    Now, if the old mobs either scaled up in hit points or defense, scaled down in the length of pop windows, or were immune from attack for three minutes after being spawned, that might shine a different light on it.
