For Scatter, if the boss is telling the truth (Angel Face), you want to run around and not be still.
If the boss is lying (Demon Face), you want to stand still (and don’t attack; auto-attacks will count against you).

Just want to say that part is wrong. As long as you are NOT stacked with other people, and have space, you can stand still. I did it just last night, every angel face with the spread mechanic and I stood still casting with space around me, didn't get hit at all.

Edit: Since I realize I hadn't corrected my post after I had been proven wrong, and personally experienced the correct method, it is actually just keep moving/casting. You do not need to be spread out, just don't stop moving when the white mask flashes.

you were still casting - counts as movement which is why attacking counts against you in the other phase.

From my experience going in a ninja and astro .... casting or using a skill doesn't seem to count against me. Maybe I am just lucky, but after 10+ runs, I have yet to run into it.

I run almost exclusively on AST or SCH, and casting does count against you if you get Scatter and it’s the demon face. The idea is to stand completely still if the boss is lying, and to not stand still if he’s telling the truth. “Scatter” is probably very bad wording on the devs’ part.

I guess I have just been lucky then. I will look at it next time I run Rabanasty.
