tera is going threw the same thing too, they aren't launching in NA till they have a expansion made. the game didn't have enough content and was bombing where it did launch. is kinda retarded that all these mmo's keep launched when they know they not ready, i think they just thought they can just get away with it. they realizing they can charge the idiots for there development and use the "this is a forever changing MMO excuse" so that they can do whatever they want.

You cant compare the two of them, FFXIV is B2P right now, it never went p2p, that game went from p2p now to fp2 like most MMO's out there right now, also SE has the resources to keep this game F2P if they so chose, they are not going broke :/

This is exactly why Indie games are doing better and getting more popular to the point commercial developers are turning to them, it targets a niche market and ends up getting insanely popular to the point it does better than most commercial games in recent years.

So sorry to break it to you, but players only ruin games by asking for terrible suggestions, i.e making the game so easy and fruitless to play that people will be bored within hours, this is why Tera isn't out in NA/EU yet, because they know it will tank very hard in it's current state and it's not targeting a niche market.

i think the idea behind a niche is this, people who the game is made for and love the game are the ones putting groups together, setting up dungeons, guilds/linkshells ..i think the saying is ..if u build it they will come. if there is a strong base of players that are dedicated to the game then others will enjoy the game as well. less people will leave after showing up when things are happening. i mean people came back to see ffxiv dungeons too, but ..they left a week later.

    Indeed so.

I'd say the MMO market depends on XIV's success, quite frankly. Right now, the MMO market is to the point that it's going to crash in over itself, primarily due to the idea that a launch-failed MMO is dead-in-the-water (secondarily due to most MMORPGs being just another typical clone). It will undoubtedly discourage further competition in the future, and that needs to be ended.

The larger MMO market doesn't care about this game at all.

The larger mmo market has no clue what it wants....

They complain about how a game is a WoW clone and quit.... if the game lack anything WoW has people rage...

I am convinced that 90% of MMO players just hate mmos.

Strawman. What people want is a different experience from FFXI. FFXI already was a niche game with a niche subscriber base (which was dwindling even before abyssea), making XIV into XI-2 wouldn't have attracted enough subscribers to justify a new generation MMORPG. One of the only smart decisions they made with the original XIV was not making it a carbon copy of XI, sadly they blundered it by making it horrible as well as different (which you seem to have trouble of distinguishing between the two).

Except it's only a handful of Indie games doing this, most end up failing just like big commercial titles.

yeah this i don't get, people love wow enough to keep running back to it, but all the games they run from are wow clones? what they are saying is nooooo, i don't want the new story, lore, graphics perhaps and new servers, i don't want the new players and community, i don't want any of the new dungeons or endgame ....i'ma just run back to a game that is the same but i've done every single thing in multiple times an pretty much log in to repeat dungeons i've done a million times? i don't get that at all lol.
