What's the best way to meet people IRL who play this game?

One thing you could do is get a bumper sticker or plushy to go inside your vehicle. My wife had a plushy from a game and got into conversations from people who knew of it. You could try wearing flashy job signs on your clothing/jewelry. People may walk by and be like "Im a scholar!" as they pass. Thats your queue to be like "oh yeah? What server?" ...just what id do.. I have no friends who live around me though. Have no need for em. Just my wife. So..I guess I could be wrong.

This is a pretty good suggestion. I went to Gamescom in 2015 and they gave FFXIV shirts to the players who won a primal fight at Gamescom. I remember one day wearing the shirt to class and someone at my University saw the shirt and made a comment about the game, we started talking and now we are buddies and in the same linkshell ingame.
