Balmung has been locked half a year. Enough is enough please.

You can still keep in touch with your friends via cross world friend lists or Discord. I left Balmung just before SB, and came to Lich because of the NA server move hindering my game in general (the ping was way too high after the move). I found a healthy RP community here and we're having lots of fun. I stayed in touch with my friends over Discord and we talk almost every day still, and play other games together. I even got a house here, something I never would have been able to on Balmung. Honestly, with the deserved reputation Balmung has had for the past year or so, I'm glad to be gone from there, as it only got worse after SB, as my friends tell me. The toxicity, salt and public ERP is disgusting. My new server has been a breath of fresh air. Balmung was bringing the entire data center down since HW. It needed to be locked, and I hope it doesn't open for a very long time, until the population balances out.

The degree of entitlement by some from Balmung is amazing. The server lock was long overdue and it'll unlock again when the population justifies it.

Relative to people transferring I can say that Siren has become very populated in my view since it became a designated server. Those people have to be coming from somewhere. We have full cities and a wealth of green leafs. I have an alt on Gilgamesh and I can say the server seems much less populated than before so it does appear that people have left. Relative to Balmung I have an account there but haven't really been using it given I'm just too busy elsewhere atm but I would suspect many have left as well.

Log in queues of over 3500 when xpac launched were eye opening. I really didn't get to doing main story and logging in to Gilga until much later. I just finished unlocking expert on my alts recently for which I have both an astro and whm fully leveled.

To me it sounds like everyone on Balmung would love an unslable large server that pulls down ather every 30 mins rather than a stable but medium populated server.

personally I would assign Ather for RP and be done with it.

as for SE current solution for Balmung I feel this is the gentlest solution they could come up with for the sake of the servers and the comuntiy.
if SE was just consided with the servers they would have just closed Balmung and spilt the population into 3 with no compation with how the spilts were made.

I have a single alt on Balmung and I would challange anyone on Balmung the time it takes me to get the wolf suit to convince me to poke my head in more on balmung raither then Exodus

i would of left for another server if it wasn't mainly for one thing, i have alot of friends :c because if i left the server i would move to the EU data centre but that means i wouldn't be able to play on my main character with them D: at least not until we get cross data-center parties

Anyway, I'm personally OK with the lock, but that's probably due to the fact I'm not trying to bring in any new players to play with me. I can see it being rather frustrating when you've invited a friend to play the game with you, but they can't.

I get that it has been done for server stability, and SE will do what needs to be done, but those not on the server should try a wee bit of empathy now and then. This topic normally brings out a lot of ugly people (not so much in this thread..yet?) who are quick to blame the Balmungers for the mess they've caused, and to claim it's their own fault if they stay. For a lot of people, the community that they become part of in an MMO is huge. It's not always so easy just to drop all the friends you've made and start fresh due to the mess that SE allowed to happen.

tl;dr: It's an unfortunate situation for both sides.

Honestly if it were me I'd break up the server in 2 and send 1 to a different data center and give everyone there a week to transfer to another a low pop realm for free or they'll go to 1 of the 2 new servers randomly.

I was mostly playing off the last post in the thread.

But there is seriously someone from one of the high-population servers complaining about this nearly every day, ignoring all of the information provided by SE and other players on why the situation is the way it is and how just waiting for them to "open it back up" is not likely as long as everyone remains stubborn. If Adamantoise were designated as high population, given all the information out there (including housing and logon queue horror stories) already, I wouldn't hesitate to move for free, with incentives.
