Yep that's part of the whole 2.0 package. I am no expert, novice, or even an enthusiast regarding things like this but if i were to hazard a blind shot in the dark as to the issue. I would think it might be something along the lines that the client is sending a request saying "Is it ok if i do this?" then the server pings back "saying yes that's fine or no that's not". instead of the client saying i have done this.
I will agree that the Hard mode ifrit battle is probably one of coolest and most intense battles i have taken part of in a mmo to date. Definitely one of the top fights in all of final fantasy history. I have definitely not called for a nerf to the ifrit fight all though some posters seem to think that. Just a bit of extra thought put towards how some elements are utilized down the road in future big fights given the state of things.Just consider for a second that the potency/frequency of Eruption was diminished, wouldn't it become less challenging? I really think the Ifrit battle is great way to convey to players how well they can take down one common enemy but depend on themselves. I have never fought in a MMO battle where that kind of challenge was presented to me (outside of low-manning). But yea, I have fought in countless fights where there is a tank..and some DD poke the mob and the mages support...
Doing a bit of what if here, but if the eruptions were a bit more static in nature much like the plumes it would be much less of an issue. If instead of the eruptions popping up under seemingly random players, if every one knew going in that eruption meant damage zones popping up depending on Ifrits positioning then yes, even with the current situation, that would mostly be a l2p thing.
I dig where your coming from pan, and no worries.I guess threads like this make me nervous is all.. I don't want the Dev team to get the wrong impression from the player base and then sacrifice their creativity just to cater to the noisy group. You are a sensible guy, I don't mean to hurt you specifically by that statement either. Just in the future I would love to take part in more interesting challenges like this one and by no means want to limit the Dev's imagination.
Glad to hear he was able to overcome the odds! And you are right there are far to many people who will far to quickly point to an outside source as to why they cant do x or y. It took me a long time to get to the point i was at when i made this post. I hate backing down from a fight, fair or otherwise. I just finally got to point where i had to step back and call a bit of shenanigans given how things are.Every time I see people say/post they cannot win because of their 'lag' I am reminded of this one individual in the LS I'm in. When he started joining us for Ifrit he would continuously die of cracks and kept blaming his lag. But then over time (probably took him 20 or so fights, lol) he was dodging everything like a ninja! So in my experience, this issue feels more like an excuse from the player rather than a game flaw.
