Second time in a week players run away from me for Levitation in last boss of Syrcus Tower, leaving me to die. Is it better to avoid that shared damage now or is there some other reason besides not knowing what it is/does?

I keep seeing them get stacked in melee range personally. Not my favorite thing on healers/SMN but great as I level SAM.
I think the majority of people just don't understand the mechanic but, for the most part, it never wipes so people never learn.

I qued up void ark via alliance raid as a blm (I get pretty good que times because dps privilages i guess), and a tank goes, "I'm a tank, and it's my job to pull all mobs to me," so I reply, "I'm a DPS, and it's my job to hit things hard." Then everyone chimed in and it became weird and whatnot, but I was laughing at the. (Example: "I'm a wolfcatgirl. Awooooooooo," "I wanna munch a potato that's doing evil things," "GRRR," and "I wanna adopt a lalafell so I can pet it and feed it.") I couldn't contain my laughter the whole run, I nearly died a few times reading the chat. All I did was announce what I was playing as and what i'm doing for no reason.
Perhaps some of the more veteran members can explain this to me. Running O3S and the party is getting killed over silly things. Mindjack into the thorns, not killing apanda fast enough…typical PUG life stuff. I’m on my AST as usual and I’m paired with a SCH. We have no RDMs so if we die, that’s game. Please tell me why on the 3rd and 4th runs, when I finally started paying attention to why the SCH kept dying in the caves, the SCH would position near the front side of the dragon.
You know, right in that conal spot where his cleave comes out? I didn’t get mad or anything, but I asked nicely what kept killing them. Their response? “My bad, not used to the dragon like this.”
Like what? There is no scenario where you would run near the front of the dragon. Whatever, I tell myself, and we go on our final run. One of the DPS is completely AFK – he admits he stepped away during the last wipe. Like…couldn’t you have said something at least?
We get to animal farm, and once again, I have a problem with the SCH. The first cast is ribbit, everybody is stacked behind the boss. Me and SCH get hit with it, and her next cast is Oink. Me and SCH are already stacked, so I stand still. About halfway through the cast, the SCH then starts RUNNING towards the party. Leaving only one frog panel open, I realize that I will not get my page with this group.
The debuffs ensured I died when we hit the mindjack reapers.
Sigh. So yeah…that’s my share for the week.

I Personally would have replaced the SCH with a different healer if he made too many mistakes. Other people wanted a clear and because of his mistakes over and over again, by the sound of it, you guys could not beat the boss.
I mean its about 7 People who probably got a little frustrated of not clearing the fight because of the SCH. He could have either said that he will leave because it didnt seem to work out or the entire grp just agreed on replacing him and continue moving on.
its a Group effort after all and if one is not workign with the Team for whatever reason, he has to drop out, if he does not want to, then he gets the boot.
I love the Haunted Manor to bits. That said, can it just be a solo instance? Please? I'm truly sick of wasting my time with idiots who start opening random boxes in Jack in the Box and killing the Sanity meter.
I'm sometimes amazed when people pull the "I'm not used to this", "I prefer this position", "I want to go there because I am used to", "I stand here because that's the only thing I know", etc. I wish people were able to adapt and learn, being more interactive with the fight and what's going on in there. I get that raiding in this game feels like a dance sometimes, but for the love of God, please try to keep your eyes open and react accordingly...
As a minor rant to keep the thread going:
Why on EARTH people don't use sprint in dungeons?! It's literally free! but no, I'm always either outrunning the tank as a healer or leaving the party behind as a tank, having to wait for others to catch up...
I was a Tank (DRK) in The Royal City of Rabanastre.
One healer DCed, the other died and went back to start point. I was MT yet I survived because our party had three Redmages. The power of Vercure *-*
