I never really liked gear swaps, they always seemed really silly.

just what I need, even more sets of gear to carry/store
{Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass}
Yeaaah the way the inventory works in this game... this would just be awful. and as others have pointed out.... it's just silly...
Hold on, I can't do this skill til I change my pants...
No.
No one knows what the combo system will do because... We have got NO confirmed info on it. we don't even know if weapon skills have multipliers. Gear swaps were fun and made different types of gear worth getting rather than being in the same armor for so long.
Took 1 second to change gear in FFXI. and you could do it while casting. Sup brah?
only good thing gear swaping added was value to gear 2-3 years after it came out. besides that everything was anoying
my house is in rebuilding stage. this house is very small and in unpopular area.
the roof, floors, plumbing, and gas are all broke.
my landlord fired the original crew. for not completing the job on time
the new crew comes in and makes all kinds of promises, and shows me pics.
now for next year i have to wait for them to finish the job.
should I move to a more popular, bigger house rent it for same price?
or stay in the part of my house that is not being rebuilt. but still pay same rent as others.
in a word, never again gear swap. It isn't remotely near "having extra skills"
I wasn't talking about the mechanic of swapping gear in the game.
I'm talking about the reality of what a gear swap is.
The function of it in the game was interesting... but the notion that it's possible, in the middle of combat, to disrobe completely and regarb yourself in different gear for specific actions is absurd to the point of ludicrous.
Yes it can be done in a game because it can be programmed... but it doesn't make the idea of it any less silly.
I like the option of having base gear, and adding materia over gear swap. With gear swap you'd have a really cool looking set that you only used for weapon skills. LAME LAME LAME LAME LAME LAME. If i have to gear swap just to do one action? lame lame lame lame. Now for mages the staves were more or less okay but still sort of lame. Materia gives us the choice to make our own gear for ws, or for ifrit, or for w/e..instead of spending hours getting a nice gear set you'll only use for one situation, you spent minutes. (my boyfriends rant, dusk boots on drk before getting homam lol)
Terrible Idea. Admittedly, i was a fans of changing gear in FFXI, not because i enjoyed it, mostly because it is required to be efficient in everything you do, but it is not something i wish to see a come back. Also, it is not an extra skills just common sense to know what gear does what at what situation, it is almost brainless.
People can still have multiple sets of gears for different situation but gear swaps should be done before the fight even begin, say you change to ice resistance gear to fight Shiva, you change to max attack gear for party grind, you change to paralysis resistance to fight coerl, and the list goes on.
