Dungeons have always been a 'catch-up' mechanic, if you want more 'useful' gear it's capped tomestones and weekly raids.

That said, I would absolutely love harder difficultly dungeons that dropped more relevant iLvl gear; e.g. for the current tier you could have 'hard' dungeons that drop i325 (above normal raid, but below 24 man / savage raid) and even 'savage' dungeons that drop weekly i335 (above 24 man, but still below savage raid).

As for RNG gear, no thanks, this game has enough RNG... wouldn't mind seeing more customisable gear though, e.g. lower base stats but with 3/4/5 materia slots.

I guess this is about lv70 dungeon gear?
Well the 315 sets are the highest level direct drop gear without a lockout you can get.
you could get more from Omega normal but it only uses a token system without a guaranteed drop.
the crafted set is gated behind gil. everything higher is gated by weekly tomestones, savage or 24men lockout.

so it is not that bad if you wanna try and gear multiple jobs. I just wish they would also add fitting weapons as well and give out 2 drops per dungeon. (Skalla is a bitch here)

There are already so many ways of optaining a proper weapon. Either from more or less hard content like savage raids or ex primals and the easy but grindy way through tomestones. Choose which one suits you best and then go get the weapon you want/need.

Glamour is true endgame. Or turn in for seals for other stuff.

The dungeon gear ain't that bad for people who are new and haven't had a chance to farm verity, creation, or Omega so the gear is not a bad stepping stone for them to get to where they need to be. Plus even if someone didn't need the gear I always take what I can from dungeons for seal turn in. Its just a waste to let gear hit the ground.

Just saying, you don't need tomestone gear to unlock everything this time around, also you can convert dungeon gear into materias if you fancy that

Here lies the problem, it used to be a stepping stone but now it is not.

We should need dungeon gear to beat the primal, and a primal weapon to beat the raid, with a smattering of tome gear mixed in, however the primals and raids these days are tuned with such a low gear check that it makes the stepping stone gear worthless because you can do the top stone with the previous tiers gear. Making stricter gear checks is the only way to make dungeon gear relevant

Except it still won't be relevant. We had i310 uncapped tome gear at a time the highest dungeon gear was i300. Of course people are gonna go straight for the i310, making dungeon gear irrelevant - you get i310 from the same dungeons you get i300 from, gee, guess what people pick! It just now overcame it by a mere 5 item levels, at a time where people had long since had ample opportunities to gather up 330 and 320 gear - heck, if you capped tomes religiously, you probably are wearing all 330 by now, without ever touching a primal and without necessarily touching the raid either - you only need the raid for the weapon. It simply lags behind other gearing alternatives.

And because dungeon gear lags behind other gearing alternatives, making stricter gear checks would only make dungeon gear even less relevant, because the result of stricter gear check is that you need to replace more of your inferior, i.e. dungeon gear with superior gear, i.e. tome/crafted. You achieve the opposite effect of what you want to achieve.

    Look at it this way;

Dungeon gear = gear you don't purchase, can be enhanced by materia, designed mainly for lazy players who don't want to craft, have no gill.

For those who do relics or craft it's a great source for seals. If your a relic user or enthusiast we use seals for material used for relics that can be used or crafted. For standard crafters is a source of items used to craft.

In conclusion; Dungeon gear is only useless to those who complain because they have bad luck with RNG or really have no idea what to do or how to use it from a broader perspective.

Hint on common sense; if your leveling multiple jobs you can farm dungeon gear while raising another and have at a minimum acceptable gear. Chances are you will get a full set eventually.

The problem with the game is that limited tomestone gear and Omega Savage is the only gear that is worth anything. Basically everything else is just trash for seals or de-synthesis at this point.
