No amount of items or currency are worth betraying people... unless they sold their game stuff for real money to help pay medical bills for cancer treatment or something lol. Just screwing people to get something shiny in-game is silly. There are plenty ways to earn gil and more housing plots will be available too. My FC doesn't have much gil in the company chest. We keep by far more savings on our personal character/retainers and don't make loans.

I'm sorry this happened to you, but in truth, you stated that you made the choice not to change his rank once the plot you wanted was bought. The system wasn't broken. If you truly wanted to trust this guy with that much power within your fc, you would have done so no matter what restrictions SE placed on you. It's just something that needs to be learned from, and it's great that you shared your experience here so that others can be aware of how easy something like this can happen, but we do have the resources to keep it from happening now.
For anyone who comes across this situation in the future and feels the need to allow a lower-ranked fc member the privilege of buying and relocating housing plots or accessing gil for that purpose, then don't be afraid to lower their ranks again once the deed is done. And make sure that this player is someone who you feel absolutely no mistrust for. If you find yourself thinking that something nasty could happen, then you shouldn't be putting your trust in that person to begin with.

Such a hard way to learn a lesson. I'm sorry this happened to you, but the system works based on your actions. If you gave them permissions, then sadly you're leaving an opening. On the bright side, that person showed their true colours, so you can keep them away from you. As a future reference, be more careful with all this.

Yeah, even tho my FC pretty much knows everyone IRL, we took the housing demolish/transfer off all but the lead rank as a precaution. Gil is still open to a few of us, but we can go slap eachother if someone jumps ship with it lol. its also only 15 ish mil, so not excessive.

No. This is something NOT for SE to police but the community.
It does suck that this happened. More than once I've been in guilds across games where 'trustworthy' people ended up stealing things from guild banks, cleaning out vaults, stealing furniture, etc. And VERY rarely have GMs ever got the items or money back from the perpetrator. Mainly one just has to buck up and get it all over again.
And with the way games are now, people can just change their names and races, while back then your reputation proceeded you (as there was no name changing unless it was clearly offensive).
That is why if you want something, get it yourself. As a guild leader or anyone in particular, put your important things in a place where others can't touch or get to. Make houses Visitor only, and have no one else be able to move or take furniture or things. At least, that's how I do it.

Eh, this is kinda different from what I know.Ok, for what I understand you ask him to buy a house and he scammed you.
Inappropriate Behavior from Prohibited Activities in Final Fantasy XIV
"· Fraud. Fraud is an act of deception intended to deprive a player of his or her full enjoyment of the game or a player’s property. Fraud occurs most often in agreements between players for trade, loot, or betting:
o Trade fraud: Fraud relating to the exchange of items or in-game services."
Basically you did a deal with him, why he was not punished based in this line? Was because his fc rank? I want understand more.
Back in EverQuest days, we traded for items int he Commonland Tunnel (there was no Auction House then). A person would link an item into chat, and a person would say they wanted to buy it. So they'd meet up, and then the seller would put an item into the trade window, and the buyer would give the money.
BUT
Essentially the seller would put an item in with the SAME ICON as the item shown in the link in chat, but it wasn't the item. In essence, they did a Fradulent trade, showing one in game item but tricking the buyer into getting something different. That's why they had to make it so the name of the item being put in the trade window shows up on your chat bar. And games use an 'Are You Sure?' window too.
In this case, that didn't happen. Money was transferred normally. An agreement was made. The deal WAS done in getting the house. But the 'friend' decided to change their mind. At the point the deal was originally done, it's over. Nothing about fraud there anymore. Just a person being ... well .. a jerk and going back on their word, sorry to say.
