I'm on balmung, same spot as far as empty leveling zones and no newbies whatsoever. The issue is I am bringing people into the game, but I cant play with them (slightly now with new cross realm thing) But I am in a fc I have been with a long itme and have a lot of friends here. My rl friends cant make on my server, but I would have to leave A LOT behind to go to another for them, and playing alts just sucks.
If they keep improving cross-realm stuff that would be nice, but it kinda sucks to be given a choice of having to sacrifice a lot of things.
I'm sure someone will rag on me for the crime of being on balmung, but I have been here since before it was called balmung, sorry its always been my server.
What feelings are you talking about? The crashing economy isn't a feeling. The lack of new members and active players in various bits of content isn't a feeling. The inability to recruit for raiding FCs and casual FCs isn't a feeling. These are legitimate issues that Gilga has been suffering from for several months now. These locks are heavily damaging the communities, the dev team needs to find better ways to distribute the population. The locks are not a "necessary evil", they are a hamfisted way of handling a problem.
I was on Balmung up until recently. I don't regret moving to a smaller server in the slightest. People have been friendlier, less flaky and much more social. I know a lot of people who have started to take their leave of Balmung and Gilgamesh who feel the same way - and they weren't locked without good reason. It was sorely needed.
Are there downsides? Certainly - but you can't have all the perks and none of the drawbacks. It just doesn't work like that.

Slight tangent here, but just wondering. Do you guys on Balmung and Gilgamesh have RMT spammers?
So if I feel that Balmung isn't active enough I should petition to reopen it to new characters and transfers? Never mind the data that says its plenty active- if I don't have a log in queue every single time I log in, I feel the stagnation in real time.As true as this is, you need to understand that enjoyment of this game is feeling related, so these complaints are still valid. If they aren't enjoying the game, then requesting change is valid. It is a game after all, it is meant to be enjoyed. It doesn't mean it will happen, but it doesn't mean it shouldn't be asked about. It's also unfair to act as though the surveys are a representation of what is actually going on in these servers; just because people raidlog doesn't mean it is thriving.
YOU ARE LITERALLY, THE THIRD MOST ACTIVE SERVER. You have 16k active characters. Recruit them. Sell to them. Talk to them. What feelings are you talking about? The crashing economy isn't a feeling. Balmung and Gilgamesh were freakishly lopsided post lock. Again, this isn't a feeling, this is a fact. Sans locking, what else could they have done? Split the servers into reasonable sized midpops? Given us all a free house if we moved?
No, I have never seen any in the 2 years Ive been here.
If it is impeding your enjoyment, it is plenty valid to do so. Expecting results is one thing, but simply trying for something you want to see change is really not a problem. Again, the data really doesn't tell you much aside from people log in; it doesn't mean they participate in much or stay logged in.
