Most healers I've run with get pissed off if I heal, as if I'm insulting their ability to do their job. Frequent Mana Shifts is usually enough to get a commendation from most healers along with not taking unnecessary damage.

THIS. I mostly see Healers struggling with their MP usage, usually because of overzealous DPS and Tanks deciding to take a dip in AOEs for funsies, and if I'm just doing my usual rotations then I don't need my unnecessarily huge MP pool (not a bad thing pls dun nerf my MP Mr Producer sir) so it may as well go to the people who need it.
Buuuuut if a healer expects me, a DPS, to stop doing my job so I can do theirs while they do mine? Lolnope. Be a DPS class or shut up.
No! I main Rdm and my second job is Astro. If I see a rdm casting vercure I get mad because I feel like they think I dont do my job well.
Healer : You heal
Rdm : You dps and raises the healers if both are dead. You shouldnt have to cast a single vercure if you do the mechanics right.Not. A. Single. One. And if youre dpsing instead of healing... My 4.5k dps says i dont give a shit about your not even 1.5 dps.
Do you job as a healer or switch to dps.
Taking time to jump into both jobs, now that tanking is over. First there isn't any real reason for any healer to get upset. Seems like people are nitpicking things a bit too far. If someone gets upset over something like this, it's usually a problem they have with themselves.
We should have enough co-op sense to see the benefits of a RDM that decides to cure, not cure or just give out a mana shift to the healer.
Playing RDM, getting vercure finally. I can say the mentality of healing sticks with me. I will throw a cure, erase or mana shift something catches my eye.
It's not that you're not doing your job as a healer, but look at it another way. That opening allows you time to do other things. Take the scenario out of just being able to nuke. Adjust to what has just happened rather than stay stuck in predicting and getting annoyed it didn't go your way.
At the same time, we have a list of things we need to do as a job / role. A red mage self healing is on there but doesn't hold priority above a healer who needs to throw them a cure instead. Nothing wrong with damage dealing / curing as any job. Just know where the general priorities are for your role. That's where we all get so upset over things, what is 1,2,3 for me isn't the same for the next person.

I'm gonna say...no. lolOh COME ON.....! Just 2 vecures... TWO....! Is that TOO MUCH....? LITERALLY just help with HEALING every now and then... There is a REASON why you\\'re a RED mage... Not a BLACK mage....! White + Black = RED...! RED..... UNDERSTAND...? Use your VECURE and VERAISE...! OK....? Good...
But... MY DEEPS...! OK...? Good...Oh COME ON.....! Just 2 vecures... TWO....! Is that TOO MUCH....? LITERALLY just help with HEALING every now and then... There is a REASON why you're a RED mage... I'm thinking both.
I know this is going to be confusing for you OP but try to keep up. Healers first priority is healing! I know, I know, so confusing right? It gets worse! DPS jobs are actually supposed to DPS first and toss a heal if the healer is failling to do their job (hint: a healer's job is to heal). If you want to be a dps roll a dps job. No matter what healing job you are on you are not going to out-dps a red mage.
Before you freak on me, know that I am a WHM and also a RDM. I tend to knee-jerk heal if the healer needs help. However if the healer is simply not doing their job and are spending their time dpsing, no heals for you!

I tend to do that...but with raises...even if the healer is perfectly fine and doesn't require any assistance...it's just a reaction to seeing someone dead. More often than not I get yelled at...but I blame my quick reactions for it.
To OP, if I had a neon sign a-la Mask(with the glowing arrows...pretty sure it's when he was trying to get the girl to sit with him for dinner - been a while since I saw the movie) that said "Not my priority unless you're dead!", would that work?
I'd just like the RM to verraise me if I mess up a mechanic and die...and for all of us not just the RM to run away from big red circles of death.
