I imagine if they did an auction, it would involve players choose a set number of houses they want and the system randomly determining if you got it. So say 100 people choose plot 60. After a certain point, a random roll decides who gets the plot and the appropriate gil subtracted. I can't imagine the devs would be dumb enough to implement a free market auction.

They have had how many years and known the issues for almost as long. We know instanced would help but i do not see this happening anytime if at all soon.
More wards only serves for select few to get housing, heck it may be players that already have 3 or more homes..
Instanced/non-instanced mix or nothing i say
SIGNED for instance housing. More wards won't solve this problem nor will more retainers solve the shortage of storage space.

I hope we get some information soon lol. Do you guys think there will be a live letter ?

Change apartment to Condominium
The condominium will be a duplex type condo meaning there will be two floors and will be the size of a small house. A balcony can be purchased as an upgrade for gardening.
Put fun into getting a condo, you can add Condominium utility which everyone in that condo unit can share these utilities, these utilities would be:
1) A gym - training dummies for everyone to use
2) A SWIMMING POOL (So people can swim and stuff)
3) Workshop (Where people can use crafting station for a small fee)
4) BBQ pit! People can buy food there and be a gather spot for people to chill and meet with her condominium owners!
5) ChocoPark (Carpark) where you can park your chocobo there and do Chocobo stuff
6) Condo transport to people to Exploratory Voyages.
These will help because you will then eliminate the need for people to get their own house because they can do everything in it!~
I suppose that would be 'better' but I doubt it would satisfy most grievances. and i'd still be pretty frustrated if the person who won already has a house on that server. A random roll auction+'homeless only' purchases for the new wards would seem to be the bare minimum.I imagine if they did an auction, it would involve players choose a set number of houses they want and the system randomly determining if you got it. I still think they could lower server strain with instancing. How many wards and houses need to be kept up the same amount of time as the servers themselves right now? 2880 plots? Granted with instancing MANY more people would have houses, but only a small fraction of them would be 'active' at any one time. Throw in some code if someone is AFK in their house for 30? minutes they are moved to an already existing hub area and the 'house' instance can be shut down until someone tries to go there again.
I wll sign if something is actually being fixed and changed about the method who and how plots are being purchased. Lucky people first come first serve is still kind of unfair for everyone. Owning a large plot as one single person while tons of FCs are without housing is not fair, new wards for FC's only as well!

Totally agree with that. People have jobs and lives they can't be hunting houses like they are NM's from FFXI lol.I wll sign if something is actually being fixed and changed about the method who and how plots are being purchased. You can count on my bow!
