How doo you think shinryu stacks up compared to the other ex primals?

Maybe I just suck I dont know haha, but right now Ive gotten through first phase on add phase now after literally hours in pf. I have to say its a bit like a punch in the gut to get past phase one have him to 45 percent and then get destroyed in the add phase. The pf for this aside from a few have been totally horrible but I know its still new t ho. So what do you guys think as far as primals go is shinyru one of the hardest primals so far in the game? Are has everyone already rail roaded him and Im just lagging behind. He def seems to be alot more difficult than some of the other primals Ive faced before. And the devs mention putting him in between, v2s, and v3s. Ill def say to me he makes v2s laughable hopefully will get my clear soon if luck is on my side. So where would you place him in comparison to other primals?

I find it interesting (and rewarding in a PF) that the last phase is easier than the first phase. I feel they balanced the fight to give you the hardest challenges within the first 4 minutes, which is actually refreshing. If you think about Thordan, his hardest stage is the second to last, which is why most saved tank LB for it. Nid Ex was his entire last phase. Does this make Shin Ex anti climatic? I'd say no, given the visual rewards at the end. Overall I feel the fight is well tuned, with s great mix of DPS, heal, and tank checks.


Edit: To answer your question, I think Thordan was the hardest primal for its time/iLevel, then Shin Ex. Maybe we can consider Titan EX being first, if we account where the play base was at the time.

I think it's great - it's a lot tougher than Lakshmi and Susano - which makes sense, since they were basically created to give people a way to get accessories/weapons and gear up. Shinryu, meanwhile, seems to have been created purely for the sake of a challenge.

My only complaint is the way in which the Minstrel's Ballad is implemented. Instead of being a fanciful retelling why can't it be touted as a loyal retelling of the difficulties that the Warrior of Light faced? They made story mode easier for obvious reasons but I feel like it cheapens boss battles by saying they're only that tough because a bard exaggerated things.

I agree I pretty much skip pall the mages text cause the story doesnt really make a bit of sense how he explains it.

Once you understand the fight and you know what is going to happen next is a very easy and forgiving, in special when everyone is around 330 ILvL. But is always the same problem, tunnel vision with the DPS to skip stuff that you don't really need to skip instead of doing mechanics.

I agree that once you learn stuff its really not to bad I feel like I know the first phase pretty well, that add phase tho. I guess at first I was just suprised at how ruff the first couple of pf groups i was in was. Like people dyin to tidal wave and stuff :/ consistently dyin to it.

Thordan was harder on release. 2nd hardest maybe, Sephirot is pretty close since he had a lot more party responsibility mechanics that cause group wipes and if you fell off you were permanently removed from the fight, Shinryu has a lot more individual mechanics.

IMO Shinryu's 1st phase is the hardest, lots of movement/other people screwing you over from tail/levinbolt. 2nd phase is pretty easy/can be made trivial with LB. (Don't even need to LB usually). 3rd phase with marks is fairly easy, and the check at the end can also be made easier with LB. Once you've been to 2/3 a bunch of times most of the wipes I've seen come from mistakes in the 1st phase.

Back in ARR, people were able to farm Garuda, Titan and Ifrit EX for the weapon weekly in pugs so those weren't that bad IMO. Did it multiple times back then.

Do you guys think its on par with, harder, or easier than Nidex? I remember spending about 20-30 hours trying to clear that (broken up across a week) when it came out.

Only worked on it for a few hours with some people in the FC I'm in, but it was awesomely fun. Lots to look out for, rapidly adapt for, increase your enemy list size for....and wipe to.

thats what im thinking to just judging from video the first phase seems like the whole fight, the problem ive had is when ive joined 2 phase or more groups still end up struggling wit the first phase ha. Usually the back end of fights are full of the mech, this one seems very frontloaded.
