    90% of the time I can dodge traps, etc. Of the 10% of the time I get hit, 80% of the time it's because I screwed up and got animation locked. Of the remainder, half the time I got hit because I run out of my traps and into somebody else's (generally a dead member who is a bit behind me). The other half of the time, which is 1% of all traps, it is because of an inescapable latency issue. It happens, but it's pretty rare.

    If your positioning is right then you shouldn't have to dodge plume, so it's not a concern.

    If it doesn't show, I haven't actually done the Ifrit fight enough times yet to know it that well (really my LS realizes collectively we're not up to snuff yet but we go in anyways just to test the waters), but so far the responses have been enlightning.

    Rather than watching your feet you can set up a chat log to only show enemy actions and look for Ifrit readying Eruption. I think it shows up in the chat log about half a second before the cracks appear.

    If I had to guess, I probably have the worst latency in my shell. When our tank calls time for nail pop, it takes me up to 3 seconds AFTER I see the tank call it to actually see Ifrit spawn them. Add the amount of time it takes between them typing it and hitting enter, to when their text is actually displayed on my screen, it's about 4 seconds.
    Latency is probably a big factor, but I'm pretty sure the nail timer starts when Ifrit summons them, not when the nails are actually up. He makes a distinct sound when summoning them and then a couple seconds later the nails fully emerge and the text shows up. Your tank might be calling it on the sound.

    in defense of the OP, sometimes even with proper ability timing (and sometimes doing nothing but auto-attacks between eruptions) i've still been hit... when i ran straight back after seeing 'ifrit readies eruption' in my battle log (which i've found shows up a full second before the spell effect on the ground) and still get nailed by it all the way against the far side.

    ...although i've killed ifrit several times, and most of my kills i was never hit by plumes/eruptions.

    i can sympathize with the guy, latency shouldn't be a factor in content, at least until they get their server structure figured out..

    although i'm fairly hopeful they will come up with a more interesting mechanic than 'dodge this voidzone' for the next fight.. otherwise they'll see 1 tank, 2-3 conjurers, and 4-5 of whichever DD they make OP again.. no reason to bring different classes when the only role is doing damage and moving out of fire.

    True, and I have considered this. Though I think the amount hops would likely still be identical to someone in Germany or Italy. Players in South America likely have it the worst, but even there I don't think the latency is that big of an issue to where you can't dodge these abilities effectively time after time.

    Yea, the latency sucks. We all know that. SE is working on fixing it, we all know that too. But the Ifrit fight is perfectly doable without ever taking any damage from these 2 abilities even with this issue. Some people just react faster than others, and those that can't react fast enough complain on the forums, because it's never thier fault.

    i too have been having lag issues with ifrit. i was wonder if they should add a extra secound or two to the abilities rather then just drop them at least till they fix the server lag in 2.0. they are easily avoidable the problem is u dont seem them till its too late.

    and yes your right, they are different teams. its some times easy to forget this and think of it as a joint effort among all team members due to it taking 2 years to fix something that should have been fixed before yoshi even got hired.

    in my mind it should have gone like " well servers are crap and people are leaving by the hundreds every day.... better put any hiring or developing aside and only focus all of our money and efforts in replacing the servers before we advance any further" (pre yoshi)

    thats my point. if i made it twice... woot for freedom!

    If you're relying on looking at the ground for the cracks/plumes to spawn, that's probably why you're eating them. Both warnings appear in the chat log and by Ifrit's movements before they actually appear. Personally, I watch the chat log, and never have issues unless I get greedy with a Weapon Skill or something.
