ooooooh ok.
ahahahahaha and the devs didnt see this coming? are you kidding me?
i saw the youtube video that person posted where it was all lancers, a few which had Ifrit lances, but how is this surprising to the devs?
15 abilities each? what is this... Kindergarten?A jack of all trades WHM... what is this 1989?
What region are you playing from? In some extreme cases (which may be the case), scenarios that the OP described can happen, but with standard latency issues there is still no reason to get hit by Eruption. I agree that it's not a good thing to factor in animation lock + latency in winning a fight, but by anticipating you can avoid all of Ifrit's devastating attacks. He uses them on a timer: 1 ability every ~15 seconds before hellfire, and 1 ability every ~10 seconds after. Depending on what ability he uses, this gives you a window to do your actions. Again, in extreme cases where certain regions experience much higher latency, I'm sure it is more of an issue.
The tactic that the battle designer is probably talking about is positioning your mages so they never have to move for Plumes. You can find tons of videos or guides that document the spots they need to be standing. You certainly don't HAVE to bring 5 lancers to the fight, but it does speed things up quite a bit.
I didn't say it was an isolated incident. I even said that I suffer from the same latency issues as everyone else.Except its not an isolated incident, its happening widely and all that can be done is for the devs to make content that is harder in other aspects rather than timing, I talk to a friend on skype in this fight and 3-4 secs after I have moved they see me moving, so its not griss' fault.
Btw not everyone that posts on here is in NA, this is an english forum not a NA forum, please learn that not everyone that speaks english is from NA.
I also never said that everyone here is from NA. It was basically just to reference that I'm just as far away from Japan as many other players.
Even with the latency issues the OP is describing, the Ifrit fight is still incredibly easy if proper ability timing is used alongside quick reflexes.
Except where you might be experiencing a 300ms response, other regions are probably seeing 600ms or higher. Assuming Eruption goes off one second after it appears, that leaves you 0.4 seconds (or less) to actually react and get out of range.
EU is further away from Japan than NA so in EU we suffer worse latency than anyone. Your post made it look like everyone on here is from NA, either that or you need more Geography lessons.I didn't say it was an isolated incident. I even said that I suffer from the same latency issues as everyone else.

I play in the US with a LS that is mostly located in Spain. We win this fight more often than not. My only problem with it is that I got an axe, even though it's my only class Lv.0. And, even so, I don't care too much.
Learn to do the fight and stop blaming lag, it's unbecoming.
i personally dont even feel it should be our responsibility to work around this.
if anything we need to hound this and beat it into their faces that this should not exist in any game, and that fixing the servers should have been #1 priority over any type of content or class fixes.
priorities are still wrong in this company.
if it meant taking the servers down for a few months then readvertising... then hey at least these posts wouldnt exist and i doubt the player base would have been any smaller.

No. Marauder is preferred tank due to much higher DPS, and lancers are preferred for their ability to attack outside of sear range, as well as the highest flat-out dps of all classes.
It's the same for nearly all of our LS members. We all likely have different server response times, yet 90% of the time we always dodge these abilities. The leading cause of anyone getting hit with them is animation lock, and that's where ability timing comes in.
If I had to guess, I probably have the worst latency in my shell. When our tank calls time for nail pop, it takes me up to 3 seconds AFTER I see the tank call it to actually see Ifrit spawn them. Add the amount of time it takes between them typing it and hitting enter, to when their text is actually displayed on my screen, it's about 4 seconds.
Yet, I still dodge these abilities perfectly fine 90% of the time. The ONLY times I eat them is because of animation lock. Everyone has latency issues, and the severity of them vary from player to player. But I highly doubt it's enough to make you eat these abilities one after another consistently.
