maybe the spells that are being taken away, are going on the new DoM type they have planned for the future. i know this is not an answer that will make you happy to lose your spells. but maybe its the reason all the same

What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.

That wont work with the whole "you cannot change gear during combat", you would have to choose one element and stick with it for the whole group atleast.I have a feeling the elemental spells might be based on the weapon you are using atm, so if you are using a wind club your elemental action will be wind based. If you are a using a weapon with no elemental affinity then you'll fire off a non-elemental attack. The same goes with the DoT attacks like Burn and such, it might be based on the elemental affinity of your weapon though I"m not sure how it would work for a non-elemental DoT lol.

No cross class skills on jobs, thus you then have up to 10 slots prepared for job specific skills.
It fits rather well if they go with the route of not including DoTs this way. Though it is just as likely that players are allowed limited choices in elements - such as they gain all 6 for a set of spells, be it nukes or DoTs or even AM, but they are maybe allowed 2 of each on their bars at any given time and chose 2/6. This would mean the bar is still restricted in the sense that you can't exactly remove nukes, DoTs and AM from your bar, yet you have some form of choice in their elements.
Regardless, it is quite an obvious catch and I'm sure they have something in mind. We do know for a fact that elemental spells are still in, and it makes VERY little sense for CNJ to learn 6 different elements of the same spell over a span of 24 levels.
I am a full time mage for the most part and this does not concern me.
I really hope they aren't just going to redistribute all those spells across the new jobs/classes...
I don't recall their ever saying "no cross class skills on jobs." I do recall them saying "limited cross class skills on jobs," but it remains to be seen how exactly that'll play out, I guess. . .No cross class skills on jobs, thus you then have up to 10 slots prepared for job specific skills.

Spell effects and spells like "Burn" that just lower fire resistance and DOT will be rolled into combos im sure. Some spells may even be rolled into traits one way or another.
Were not losing spells, were gaining combos.

Wait what?
